Ok. I'm upgrading the old computer after 2 years of service, so am looking to see what kind of power supply will be enough for my new needs.

I'm looking to upgrade to this:

1 optical
4 120mm case fans
6850 CPU
2 8800GT
4 gigs PC6400 Corsair
EVGA 680i SLI motherboard
GeminII with 2 120mm fans
2 Duoorbs replacing the stock fans on the 8800GT's

Right now, I have a OCZ 600W Powerstream, but am thinking I'm going to need at least a 700w on the new setup. I use lots of fans because I've had a lot of heat issues with my old setup which only had a 6800 ultra, (burned out 2 of them, even after I upgraded the case, added more fans, even got a mobile AC unit),which BFG finally replaced with a 7800GS, and never had any problems after that.

I don't think you NEED 700W to run that system, on the other hand ofcause I don't know how many amps the Powerstream can put out reliably on the 12V line.

If you decide to upgrade to be on the safe side then the Corsair 750TX PSU could be for you, it's currently $150 after MIR at Newegg, as is the Corsair 620HX which I think should have plenty of power for you needs too.

It's all in the amps on ther 12V line...

Yup, either of the two you mentioned or the new Corsair 650. Neweggs price isn't the lowest on the net but nobody gives the service they do.:)

Well, let's go with this route then. I don't think the power supply itself would have any problems running the new system, as it's been rated very well in reviews and such. My concern is more about the PCI-E connectors, of which it only has one. Since I am going to run SLI, wouldn't I need a second PCI-E connector, or would I just need to get an adapter?

I too would suggest the Pc power & Cooling Silencer 750 quad. The Corsairs are also a great option.

You can get an adapter. The OCZ Powerstream shouldn't have a problem with 2x8800gt's. I see that this psu has 2x6pins, do you have an earlier revision of it or something? 4 12V Rails @ 18A is god's plenty.
