Ok so I recently ordered a Westinghouse LCM-22W2. it came in with all it's 22 inch glory, and I'm all excited, and I plug it in, only to behold...

This bright white pixel is VERY annoying, especially during Gears of War, or watching a batman movie, etc. Does anyone knwo if this is fixable, or anything? I tried contacting westinghouse, and no reply.

I sincerely appreciate your help.

It's a stuck pixel.
There isn't anything you can do about it other than return the panel and get another one.

yeah but I was reading that there were like rubbing and like tapping tricks, that worked for some people?

I read it has quite a high success rate by all those that tried it.
Gotta be worth a try.

Well if you know the tricks it seems as though you could try them. You could search on Google, but because of the type of stuck pixel it is (solid white as opposed to stuck to a color) I don't think it's going to work.

Do what you want to do, but I'd just return it.

should I return it, and deal with all the hassle for that one pixel? You think ti will be worth it?

P.S. I bought it on Newegg, and they have this 8 (or more) dead pixel policy.

Newegg has a 30 day return/refund policy. Just return it for a refund if they won't change it out.

I tried the tapping method on a pixel before, it worked.... kind of. It removed the dead pixel from the area and I was happy, except I looked down and somehow the dead pixel moved further away, which made no sense since it wasn't anywhere near the area I was tapping.

Try using a smooth cloth. Dip it into a warm water(rinse it so no droplets) and gently dapped(massage gently) at the white pixel.

Not exactly unfortunately..

LCD Display Return Policy

* Return for refund within: non-refundable
* Return for replacement within: 30 days
* There must be a minimum of 8 dead pixels to declare an LCD display defective and eligible for return.

There should be a warning with big red letters on top of the display forums about newegg and their monitor return policy. Don't get me wrong, Newegg is great in many regards, and they should be commended for that, but when it comes to displays they are the worst place to buy from.

Well I actually requested an RMA from Newegg for a replacement, and they gave me an RMA number and everything. I also called westinghouse, and told them about it. They told me the rubbing method and they told me to leave a white screen on for overnight, and if that didn't work, then they would warranty it for me too.

The question is now, which one should I choose, Westinghouse, or Newegg?

I agree completely! I have never bought an LCD from Newegg for this reason, but I have a lot of experience and dig for return policies before I buy. For people that are not tech savy this info is not up front where it should be.

Amazone and Costco both have much better return policies and their prices are just as good.

TN's revert to white when pixels die (VA's and IPS revert to black). This is their natural "off state". Pixels die mostly when transistors die. Any amount of rubbing and CPR won't bring the dead transistor back to life. :D

If you have a dead pixel, it won't help with anything but fixing it physically with replacement of transistor. Rubbing and flashing colors/white only helps with stuck and lazy pixels (and image persistance errors).

It looked very intrusive from the pictures, so its better to deal with it now, instead of it ruining your widescreen gaming pleasure. :)

That's good to hear! Did you specifically tell newegg it has one dead pixel? If so and they accepted it, RMA it to them you'll get a new one. Westinghouse will likely send a refurbished monitor. Newegg will probably be quicker as well.

Wait, did you say in the other thread that you've mailed the rebate already? I don't think that you can return it to newegg once you've cut the UPC code.

No I didn't mail in my rebate just yet.

But I didn't tell newegg the specific reason for the RMA, I just put defective/malfunction.

So I'm afraid that newegg will open it and look at it and just send the same exact monitor back, that way I just lost shipping money.

There is no ability to just do a no-questions asked return? (Even if there is a restocking fee or what have you...)
