I'm getting a new monitor for HD gaming on my 360, I'm a hardcore FPS player, mainly Halo 3, and I want to be sure the response time won't be something that is noticeable to me.

So my choices that I've come up with are the Westinghouse L2410NM or Spectre X24WG

The Westinghouse has a slower response time but HDMI direct where as the Spectre has quicker response time but no direct HDMI (DVI > HDMI)

Any help I can get on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Spectre, while an ok unit, I have seen more than a few that go dead with power supply issues.

I think I would go Westinghouse, better known and I think it is not a TN panel as the Spectre is....

Watch out for REALLY low response times, because that suggests the monitor's panel is a TN. Fast response is their advantage, but the downside is that their colors can start to look very different at different angles, even within their best viewing angles. My NEC 19" on this rig is a TN, and that color issue is very distracting to me sometimes (the price I paid for having a 2ms response).

I'm probably going to get that Westinghouse myself this month; it's doing double duty as a tv and second monitor. I can let you know how it goes if you want, but I don't have any current gen consoles to rate that experience for you.

I've got the Westinghouse and I don't notice any lag while playing Halo 3 or CoD4. Didn't even have to adjust the lag settings in Rock Band if that's any indication of how well games play on it. :D

Alright, thanks guys, I'm most likely going with the Westinghouse as well.

Does anyone know how often you can find the monitor for cheap? I've heard people grabbing it at Best Buy for like 350?

Brand vs Brand. I would recommend Westinghouse all the way. IMO their LCD gives a better picture quality and also their build quality is also better than Spectre. Spectre feels like they are made of cheap plastic. But yeah every model is different.

BTW January is normally one of the best months for TV Deals so hopefully you can get some awesome deals on your future LCD.

Thanks for the heads up.

Wheres the best place to find out when things like monitors go on sale?

Check out the hot deals on fatwallet.com and slickdeals.net daily. If there is an awesome deal out there. You will definitely find it on both of these sites.

stay away from sceptre, i had a 22", dvi died within 3 months, and the monitor died within a little over a year. returning it to costco.
