Hello. I recently noticed two green dot's on my CRT screen. they stay still if i scroll a page they will draw a line of little dot's across my crt. I tested a LCD aswell and they show up on it aswell. what could this be? Is my 7900GT is going bad? note when i go to 16 bit color they are gone.

I talked to EVGA they said they would send me a rma slip soon. I just hope it get's fixed. I actualy hope it's the card cause i cant afford anything else .

I saw your posts on the Evga forums. Have you gotten your RMA card back yet? If so, did you get a 7950GX2?

My card is a 7900GT KO and it is just starting to artifact in CS:S (big polygons coming out from people's heads and the map textures getting "warped").

No cause EVGA RMA Dept seem's to be taking a holiday break till Jan 2nd. So I'll mail the card on the 2nd.I hope i get a 7950x2 like allot 7900gt owners are getting, but my luck ill get a crappy 8600gt which is slower in most game's.

Yes it would appear it is dying. I had a 6800 Ultra go on me. It had yellow overlayed dots all over my screen, similar to that screenshot except there was a lot more.

What's the EVGA part number on the card?

The 7900 series suffered from a higher than normal failure rate on the first several shipments of cards from Flextronics. This was due to a bad batch of Samsung BGA memory modules which were prone to premature failure.

This problem was resolved shortly with new batches of cards that used Hynix memory and were commonly labeled as 'RoHS Approved', and aside from part numbers that's usually how you can tell the difference.

(Nvidia/Flextronics did eventually start using Samsung BGA modules once again, BTW)

That's one of the original run of 7900GT cards (A plain old non-overclocked 7900GT if I remember correctly) and could quite possibly have the bad memory modules on it. One would think that the problem would have reared it's head sooner than now though, unless you rarely game with that machine.

If it's elligible for RMA you should contact EVGA and get it exchanged, they are really good especially with replacements on these particular cards.

Here is one sure fire way to see if your card has the bad memory on it: Fire up 3DMark 06 and run the 'Deep Freeze' portion of the test. I betcha the card doesn't make it through without flaking out....

i dont game much so i assume that exstended it's life a bit. As i type this i see little pixel's on my screen...
