Duke Nukem Forever Video Tomorrow

Hehe.. I jusy started thinking about Duke 3D again. Now I wanna play it and mod the config file so I can make atomic missles out of the regular missle launcher :)

#1 Find a wall to hide behind

#2 Strafe out and shoot a missle - make sure it will actuall hit something though.. like a wall that is a good distance away.

#3 Strafe back behind the wall and turn to watch the insanely bright blast of you atomic missle obliterating anything that was out in the open. :)

#4 Giggle, then go find another large open space with lots of baddies in it.

Repeat Steps 1-4

Just watched it. Looks pretty impressive. Now 3DR just needs to get this sucker on the shelves!

Hopefully it'll catch on again and we'll all be saying to our friends, family, and coworkers like we did 10 years ago:

"It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum; and I'm all out of bubble gum!"

"Let god sort 'em out."

"You're an inspiration for birth control."

"Groovy." (Army of Darkness ripoff, I know. But so awesome!)

isnt duke nukem similar to serious sam? lol

I'm honestly surprised nobody tried to mod it into a DN game. The style and gameplay was similar enough so all that really needed to be done is reskin the models and add in the one liners.

Sounds almost exactly like the original with some minor aging to the voice, which makes it all the better. If you've never played the game, do so, and then you'll see. If not then it might be in your best interest to go have a nice warm glass of stfu. This is one of those things you had to grow up with to really appreciate and understand the high desire of this game.

Those who are dogging the teaser, that is CLASSIC duke, and where the hell do you think the origins of today's fps game came from eh? He was a jacked, smartass, asskicker mother fucker......it's simple as that.

I hope its an 08 release.......truely would be a happy new year.....:D

Translating the trailer:

We need more funding! Look the game is real! Honest!

I can assure you they're fine on cash. They get tons of cash from royalties and other franchises. You forget how wide spread Duke is alone (PC, mac, mobile, consoles) and thats just one franchise.

But voices change over time. Look at the Transformer mvoie, they didn't bring back the entire orginal cast because some of them had their voice change too much between G1 and the live action movie.

Actually, they didn't bring back a lot of the original cast because many of the original voice actors died. It's been 25 years and some of them were already pretty old back then to start with.

I blinked and missed the actual in-game footage. You'd think with ten years of prep they could've thrown a little more into it.

Shadow Warrior = win

Oh yeah, loved the atomic bomb in Shadow Warrior!!! My brother thought it was the most awesome thing ever.

Too bad it cannot be done in 3-D with the same picture as the 2-D one in that old game.

I was very UNimpressed.

Damn, those biceps were impressive!!! The way they moved. However, it would be a bit funny seeing Duke that pumped-up throughout the game. It'd be cool if he went into that "mode" after popping some steroid pills.

Hasn't been 25 years. I'd go with 15 years ago, give or take a year.

The question right now on the minds of anyone under the age of 25 is. Who is Duke Nukem?

Heh, I'm 19 and I've played one of the Duke Nukem games (one of the first FPS ones - don't remember name) :D I'm definitely looking forward to it - I want a good ol' shooter where the bullets go where you aim them and there is tons of ammo, and loads of just wasting bad guys - no thinking required... (and, of course, one liners ;) )

I'm still not impressed, it will take more then an steroid popping bruce campbell one liner spitting wash out to tweak my knobs.

I was a big Duke fan back in the day, but I seriously lost interest about five years ago. Duke Nukem Forever long since passed into the running joke category. That's where they should leave it, the trailer was weak, it looks like any other "me too" shooter. They really blew the chance to build Duke into a powerful franchise about 10 years ago.

 I was around 7 or 8 IIRC when the move came out. I'm 31 now, so it's been around 23 or 24 years since then, which is to say about 25 years ago when the G1 series started.

"Duke Nukem is a platform video game developed and published by Apogee Software (now 3D Realms), featuring the adventures of Duke Nukem. The game was released on July 1, 1991."

:p 18 yrs

I remember in 96 when duke 3d was released.. wow that was some insane stuff.

i think there's some confusion here... i think the "25 years" comment was referring to transformers and dead voice actors, not Duke.

speaking of Duke, I agree that folks need to stfu if they think that his voice doesn't sound right. That's classic Duke, and if you don't know just how very right it is, then you don't know wtf you're talking about. Fire up Duke3D and you'll stand corrected.

I dont understand how people are "unimpressed" by it. Its a teaser not a trailier. Its more of a 1min graphic tech demo then anything. I also think that people are expecting alot from it story wise when they shouldnt. Duke Nukem is probably one of the most basic shoot them up FPS's out there. It just suppose to be pure fun going thru the levels blasting your way thru with awesome weapons and hiliarous one liners, and thats about it. If they can just recreate the fun I had playing the orginal ones, Ill be happy.

And Shadow Warrior is a great game. I still wish they'd make a sequel to that one. It was just pure fun to play it, not to mention the one liners were classic. "Who wantsa some Wang?!"

Loved Shadow Warrior. How about "You very bad man!".

I was a big fan of Duke Nukem 3D, so this are great news. I'll surely buy it. Whatever the outcome in terms of story and graphics, it will be extremely fun to play no doubt! If it's released in 2008, then 2008 will be a memorable year :)

I'll get excited when I see my local store has copies for sale, until then nothing they "release" will impress me. They released a lot more for previous versions and they haven't come out with a retail game in how long? Bah.

[sarcasm] in other news, daikatana II has been announced with a release date of February 2008 based on the UT2k4 engine [/sarcasm]

Duke 3D and Wolfenstein 3D was my first FPS. Have to say, Duke 3D was teh ish back then. Heck, it is still a fun game to waste time on today.

Duke 3D wasnt a revolutionary Shooter when it came out, it was really just a pumped up "doom" style engine round about aa time when Quake was the Reveolution in 3d Engines.

Duke was Uber Successful for the Gameplay Aspects,

It infused a shetload of Sex and Humor in the Genre.
It also had massive levels with attempts to re-create realistic areas (Books in a bookstore, view-booths in the pr0n shops, etc).
It also had scripted events like the Earthquake at the San-Andreas fault.

Those where what made it such a fun game, not the graphics. If 3D Relms follows the same Sex/Humor forumula with the new one, then it will be a sure fire hit.

I think the humor and the weapons really set it apart. Most inventive weapons to date when it came out.

yeah it was the gameplay that was so awesome, and the humor.
OJ driving his bronco on the TV in the bar, while you play pool and check out the dancers.
go in the bathroom and use the facilities, etc.

the stickies, the shrink ray and stomping on people.
GAMEPLAY > graphics

Beginning to wish that sub-surface scattering was made obligatory. I'm really starting to hate these Doom3-style plastic skin effects.

LOL. But Bruce "The Ultimate Tough-Guy" Campbell is the man! :D

Yeah, it's the aesthetic of Duke that made it what it was. In terms of visuals, it actually looks pretty good. If they are actually working on it and plan on releasing the damn thing, as long as it has the same aesthetics... gritty, the crude adult humor, gore, over-the-top in every way "attitude"... if they can manage that and more, it'll be one hell of a good time. If they try to get too serious or leave out all the little things that really added to Duke, they'll fuck it up, and it'll be a miserable loss.

I miss Duke! :D

From what I have seen so far I would seriously put this game in the same league as Serious Sam. The is ZERO way this game is even going to be in the same league with basically "anything" published in the last 3 years that got over 80% avg in the review community.

That is based off the teaser but still.

The music was awful, and the presentation was terrible. Say what you will and you can even quote me and put this in your sig when this is finally released. Duke will be one of the fastest games in history to be released at 49.99 and goto 4.99 Bargin Bin prices, and will probably not get over an 80% avg in the review community.

All the children who whine about the trailer obviously were still walking under the table when Duke was kicking ass and chewing bubble gum.

I'm glad they kept the original voice actor Jon van John and the Duke's muscle-head stature.

Loved Shadow Warrior. How about "You very bad man!".

"Mista Stickybomb...meet Mista Stupid."

"How's that for kung-fu fighting, you Chickenshit!"

"Lo Wang kinda hungry...Mmmmmm...taste like chicken."

"Oh, betta zip fly."

"You want to wash Wang? Or you want to watch Wang wash wang?"

"Burn, baby Burn! Flames a getta high-ah!"

"Ohhh...smell remind me of old girlfriend!"

"Like Chinese New Year firework."

"Takusan balls...Squishy penis."

"Push in da bush, there, rabbit...Haha!"

"I like nucleah weapons."

"Hey! Come back here finish fight...ugly, scaly, snake...shitface!"

"Dying Time is Here."

The voice on the trailer sucks. The original game voice sucked a bit less, but still sounded too much like a little guy trying to sound big. I originally played the game back when I was still a wee little tyke of 25 years old (yes, obviously still walking under the table  ) and I thought the Duke voice needed work.
