Free Windows Vista Ultimate

I signed up for Office 2007 Ultimate this morning at 8am PST. Sleept and awoke at 3pm to see the deal was over with. Im fine with MS checking out my folder structure and looking at my settings, maybe this will help the next version of Windows/Updates be better.

I signed up about 8:30pm central and once I realized they pulled the promotion I opted out like 15 mins later. It pisses me off that they didn't bother to post on the page they ended the promotion.

I should have realized that BG was up to his old tricks. Nowhere on their site does it say anything about getting anything, but giving them permission to poke around your computer for free. Thanks, but no thanks! UNINSTALLED...

Next question, does it really uninstall ;)

yeah i emailed and found out i didn't "make it"

uninstalled right then and there and made sure it got rid of all the services and shit. I don't mind taking surveys and them poking around on my legit OS laptop, nothing really i care about on there anyways.

When they pull the promotion but make no mention of it to people that come there expecting something, and still let you sign up and install the software thats pretty low. Just think of all the people that heard about the deal, signed up, and are never notified after 3 months that "oops sorry we ran out".

Fuck you microsoft - if you ran out of copies, pull the whole promotion and not let people sign up anymore.

Figures i got in to late

Just did a fresh format on my back up rig

the thing is running slower then it ever did now with this crap on it

the only thing on it is yahoo/firefox and ad aware

how do i remove this crap now

it doesn't show up in my programs

yah id like to know too.. i signed up earlier and got the email to download it.. saved the file but didnt install it yet...

was gonna throw it on a seperate hd with xp on it that i could jus boot into it every now and then to let it phone home

Might as well use the free ultimate. I'm not even sure how they would, but they're welcome to peruse my note taking and essay writing.

Who does one email to find out if they made the cut?

I emailed [email protected] and got this reply:
Thank you for your interest in the feedback program. Due to overwhelming response, the supply of gifts has been exhausted so we have closed our free product offer on 12/11/2007 at 2pm Pacific Time. Thanks to everyone that participated!

Then I got another email saying that if I was able to pick a product and put in my address info than they would send it providing I follow the terms on the site.

if you made the cut (like i did), it would have given you a form to fill in your address after the download page.

Well, I guess I am going to remove it now, since it seems like the freebies are gone. :(

what a scam this is!!! i signed up way before 2pm pst but didnt get an email responce to 4am pst today. so somehow i missed the cut? i didnt even install the software and i feel cheated because i did the 50 question survey.

lol it's not a scam. The promotion just ran out.
MS should put up a notice though, since I'm sure a lot of people (like me) are still signing up, thinking they are about to get the free software. So boo MS for that.

How many positions were even open to do this?
I feel though it is not worth my privacy to get this, even if it is for a limited time.

and boo on Steve for not updating the front page news clip to say NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!!

Yeah, got my installer email a few minutes ago. Applied around this time yesterday, so i got mine a day later. Keep a look out folks.

Oh come on give him a break. Nobody has to hold your hand. He reported it and you were slow getting it. Not his fault.

its a scam!!!! like i already said i signed up before 12pm est, that 9am pst. i didnt get an email back from them till 7am est, 4am pst. so how did i miss the dead line? also, i did there whole survey this morning when i woke up and was never told that i wasnt getting any free software. i emailed them this morning before i installed the software to find out about the free software.

What happened to the free product option?

Thank you for your interest in the feedback program. Due to overwhelming response, the supply of gifts has been exhausted so we have closed our free product offer on 12/11/2007 at 2pm Pacific Time. Thanks to everyone that participated!

no where did they tell me that there was no more free software, i had to email them to find out. so i email them again to ask when i signed up, and the email me the exact same message.

There were to many people and so many emails in a row; they could have had over a million people register for this so it is not a scam. Your email, or late email, was because the system was overwhelmed and you were just to late.

Oh for crying out loud, take your ritalin and calm yourself. It's not a scam. The feedback software and website is and has been available to read and download 24/7/365, nothing has been changed.

So Microsoft ran out of free licenses. They don't owe us anything. You're mad because you missed a chance to save $300. Uninstall the software and shut up.

but my point is i singed up way before 2pm pst. thats a fact. got my email reply today and no where does it say the offer was over:

They were probably still handing out the gifts in the order of mail arrivals. The offer was good until 2pm OR WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. Not and.

Apparently they ran out long before 2pm.

so it wasnt while supplies last. till 2 pm pst. i know for sure i signed up before 2pm pst, and you know what some how i missed out? thats what i call a scam.

So just because they gave you a time means that if you signed up before X time you are entitled to it?

This thread should be locked for this one reason: If the offer is no longer around, then there is no reason for the hoopla over it.

UPDATE:
We have recently discovered that yesterday afternoon (12/11/07) Microsoft took away the freebie part of this offer (the software). However, Microsoft is still running the survey and 3-month feedback program. This means anyone who signed up after the cutoff is still going to be monitored, but recieve nothing in return for the forfeit of privacy. Microsoft apparently thinks your privacy isn't worth anything now.

i would say yes. what your saying is their word means nothing? if they say x time it should be x time. rolleyes

By reading the response they have you.

This to me means they found out they reached a limited and to fix this they had to shut it down, now what should have been the next (or final) sentence is. "Due to high demand not all entries will be awarded a product or entrance into this event, sorry for any inconvenience." Yet they did not do this because Microsoft may not have thought this would have been so large or just an error in the email service in neglecting a sentence.

when i signed up, i got the option to choose when signing up so i put vista ultimate 32bit and 64bit dvd.. and got the email confirming the download link to thier software..

this was before 2pm..

then later last night i threw in another hd and threw xp on it, and then installed their software on it and just installed minor things like drivers, winamp, trillian, firefox and browsed the net fo ra few hours..

so I can just use that for this program..

Since I did not get any email saying they ran out, are there pretty good chances that I still may be entitled to the offer?

that is much better than the 2pm pst crap, because i know i signed way before 2pm pst. also when they did send me an email to confirm my email address they show have told me that the promotion was all done. i shouldnt have to email them to find out.

I'm guessing so. I never got any emails saying I didn't get it. I signed up around 3:30 PM EST. I was still able to select a gift too.

You're reading something into it that isn't there. It says the closed (ended) at 2pm PST.

They didn't find out at 2pm. The system had a counter and when that counter reached the max (or reach 0), the offer ended. And the time that it ended was 2pm PST.

With that said, since people who got the offer have indicated that you are offered it during the survey, it's safe to say that anyone that wasn't allowed to select the item took the survey after it ended. It sucks, but that's the way it goes.

The only reason that I think some criticism is valid is that many of us spent a lot of time filling out a survey and then found out we're ineligible for a gift.

MS should have handled it a bit better, but I certainly wouldn't go beyond that.

Life goes on, they'll probably offer something like this again down the road.

The post you quoted was me showing what they should have done knowing this would be a high demand gift. Though what happened was the problem with the other [H] member where he just got some generic answer that did not help.

To everyone thinking they can put this on an Ignored system for 3 months and get something for nothing I think you should reread the terms.

You agree to take some surveys, I am willing to bet that when this 3 months is up and you failed to respond to any of the surveys that you will not be getting anything. It clearly states that it must be installed on a computer that you use and I am sure they will be looking out for fraudsters like some of you!

Those of you who signed up for this thinking you could find a way to scam MS out of a free copy of Vista owe an apology to those who signed up and were turned down because the supply was exhausted!
