Hey guys,

I've been frustrated by this all day, and need any suggestions you may have. I just took out 3 gigs of OCZ ram in exchange for 8 gigs of patriot memory. Vista still shows 3200 mb of ram even though it shows 8200 mb or something available. I cleared the cmos but all that did was make AIM and half of the internet not work.

I've been trying to update the bios, i'm using like 1901, but I don't have a floppy drive. Google results are full of junk.

Any suggestions to get the 8gigs to register and my bios updated? It seems like there used to be a windows based bios updater. system restore + return memory sounds good right now.

TIA

kyle

oh yeah I am using 64 bit vista

........ is there like a button you gotta push somewhere, perhaps an easy button, that makes it work?

ok ok ok wow sorry

there is an easy button

its in bios it's called like "memory optimizer" or something stupid, and you have to enable it if you're using 64 bit OS... then it works..

jesus, that was easy.. but hard. You'd think bios could just do something like that for me... nahhhh

For future reference, if you want to flash the BIOS without a floppy, just use EZ Flash 2 in the BIOS (page 4-45 in the manual). I think it can only read FAT, so get a cheap USB flash drive, put the new BIOS on it, and flash away!

Thanks, yeah i will try that.. ez flash 2 was actually reading from my BF2 DVD but wouldn't read from a CD i burned. Interesting.
