Weighted Companion Cube case

But he was nearing the completion of the experiment... perhaps he was baked? :p

:D

No great update yet... The cube is primed, and I picked up paint only to realize I sampled colors of the cube in the game's environment, so my light grey is super beige and my dark grey is super green. I'll have to pick up some real greys later this weekend.

Apologies for the slow updates, I've also been distracted by an upcoming trip (this thurs-fri) to buttonwillow raceway in my beater car... Much packing to do.

If your weighted companion cube could speak, and Aperature Science would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it cannot, it would tell you to post an update.

Very nice, I love it.

Just one thing, your corners aren't like the original. I'm not sure if you knew or not, just pointing it out. Here's a pic:

Good luck.

man it woulda been hella rad if (and i know this may not be what the original purpose is for the heart embedded circles) you could have gotten some of those battery operated push to turn on lights, like the ones that you can use double sided foam to to stick to the walls in a closet or something. push it and it lights up illuminating the heart. woudl be a bit more domed shaped than what you created from wood, but may have a neat effect.

edit: oops forgot to first and foremost say how awesome of a creation this is and i'm thoroughly enjoying watching your wood working skills come to life with this project. i've learned a lot already.

@clownfart: Hm? The last photo I posted of the corners is a little outdated, as currently the corners of the corner pieces (the point where the 3 sides of the pyramid-esque corner pieces all converge) are sanded flat. That was the final step of the fabrication of the corners, though, am I still missing something from what you can tell?

@defsquad: neat idea -- but at this point I'm being a major wuss about adding features. Gotta get this thing done before failing spectacularly :D

Thanks for the patience!

On the left, your corners(pre-file down), on the right the corner type of the companion cube in portal.

Ah yep, those are taken care of, just haven't taken updated pics of those pieces. Thanks for the clarification help.

i imagine that after the mobo tray, all the mdf, the paint, and the acrylic that it would get pretty pricey.

*Picks up the red phone*

"Duece! Something's wrong! The circulation system just completely shut down, and it looks like the door codes are getting scrambled!"

In background: *beeping noises and yelling*

"...Shit, now the whole board's gone dark!"

In background: "Make sure the flash wasn't interrupted."

"I think something happened to GlaDOS. We were trying to flash her BIOS using ASUS Update..."

In background: "Damn it! Last time it took three weeks to get a new EPROM!"

"...She seems to still be operational though...Our main screens are blank but the emergency monitor...Phil, plug in that G15...Is showing some read activity and 98% CPU usage. Duece, this shouldn't be happening!"

In background: "Don't worry, without circulation she'll have to shut down soon or overheat."

"Wait, one of our screens just lit up again. It says..."

In background: "WTF?"

"...GlaDOS says she wants an update, or nobody gets any cake. Duece, what the hell does that mean?!"

In background: "Whoa, circulation just came back online."

"Great, at least we won't suffocate. Duece, I don't know what the hell you're doing over there, but I suggest you give GlaDOS what she wants for the time being until we can unscramble the door codes."

In backgound: "Shit! What's that green shit?!"

"Whoa! *cough* Duece..." *coughing* *bumping sounds*

In background: "Phil, we need to get the masks *cough* out. Save your breath. They're *coughing* in that locker. Open it by pressing the *cough* 1500 Mega *cough* MegaWatt Aperture Science Super- *cough* ...Super-colliding Super-bu-*lots of coughing* ...."

*two thumping sounds*

Searching... Are you still there? Searching... Target lost. I don't hate you. Critical error. Shutting Down.

Thank you for starting this mod for me. If you hadn't, I would have felt obligated to do it myself & I sure don't have the free time.

If you knew Darth, and seen his mods you would know he's kidding! :) Check out the cover of one of the recent CPU magazines to see his last beastie. That or he's off his meds and we need to fire up the 'lectric probe again!

Rich are you causing trouble again lol.

Yeah this mod looks freakin' awesome, can't wait to see the next update.
