So, when I bought my PS3 at launch I sold my PS2 b/c it's totally back-compatible with all my PS2 games, except... my PS2 Gameshark. I love playing Resident Evil 4, and Code Veronica; among many other games with cheats. I like playing a game again with cheats after i've beat the game without them.

So, I was wondering if anyone heard of anything as far as getting the Gameshark to work on the PS3, or if there are going to be any Gameshark releases for either the 360 or PS3. Because, idk about you guys but after you play a good single player game without cheats, playing a game with cheats increase it's replayability b/c you get all guns, infinite ammo, etc.

I'm not sure tbh. IIRC, GS and AR discs are usually unlicensed discs that have been stamped properly in a shady part of China. Perhaps they haven't figured out how to do that for the new-gen consoles, not to mention that instead of patching the RAM contents of a PS2 (probably using some low-level stuff), the PS3's a completely different animal (I dunno how PS3 BC works even with the real EE/GS chips, because they still have to allocate RAM and makeup for IOP/SPU2/etc).

That and once they do come out, it would open up the possibility of swapping in burnt discs, which they won't look kindly upon.

I think that due to the PS3's slot loading design that could cause an issue with disc swapping. Also another issue is the legality of using Gameshark because while the software doesn't let you do anything illegal it technically is reverse engineering and catching calls from the game disc to allow the cheats to work.

Thing is this could hurt the X360 and PS3 (in the future) with the achievements and trophy systems since these are issued by SP games aswell. Lets not ignore also how Gameshark for the origianl Xbox allowed users to cheat online aswell.
