i'm going to upgrade to

Proc : E4500 (going to OC a lot, maybe to 3.0ghz or even 3.5+ghz),
Ram : DDR2, still have to make decision on brand and rating,
Mob : DFI P965 Dark,
Vga : Gigabyte 8800GT and
adding a dvdrw drive.

so i think my old 480W PSU will need a replacement.
i need your help to decide between the two models of silverstone and a thermaltake which i found inside of my budget.
i have contacted the silverstone store and ask which model of 560W did they have and still waiting for their answer.
i'm not sure the dual 12v rail with 20a each on ST56F opposed to single 12v rail but with powerful 38a on ST56ZF will affect anything, so i will listen to you about this, please help.

thanks.

A good 480W PSU would be able to handle that system.

But thats just it, in my experience, good PSU manufacturers sell a 450W, and 500W SKU, the only 480W's I've worked with are raidmax's and powmax (neither of which were fun experiences btw).

So yeah, asuming this 480W has a 26-30A 12V you should be ok to load the system like that, with your current PSU, assuming you don't run a raid raptor config or something.

it's 18a, but my 7900gt which need 21a (msi stated on their website) is running well for almost 2 years now.

What's the make and model of that PSU?'

EDIT: Oops. see it now.

okay, this is what i'm upgrading from (as still in my sig) :

Venice 3000+ 2.6Ghz (290x9) cooling by TT Beetle
Abit Fatal1ty AN8-SLI
512x2 TwinMos DDR SpeedPremium PC3500
Zalman vf900cu on MSI 7900GT 630/800 [email protected]
Creative SB Audigy 4
Seagate SATA 200GB
TT Butterfly 480W & TT Tsunami

do any of you think TT (Thermaltake) is not a good PSU manufacturer?

The only good Thermaltake PSUs that I'm aware of are part of their Toughpower line. I say play it safe and get a new PSU. The 8800GT requires at least 22A, according to eVGA.com.

What is your budget anyway?

RX 550W is the most i can afford and it is $97 here.
oh btw. thanks for your reply.

my ST56ZF is 2yrs old and still running like a champ. but for $$, corsair vx550 is a great steal. Thermaltake toughpower > purepower and well worth the cash.

56ZF (Etasis) would be my choice. It is certainly superior to the Enhance 56F. I duon't know much about the other TT you listed.

well i'm from indonesia and the silverstone 56F is cheaper by about $9 than RX550W, dunno about ZF, the silverstone store reps sucks.

i know the build quality of TT, but what about the TR2 550W edition? it's cheaper than RX.

to be honest, the powerful single rail of 56F kinda sway me away from TT.

The ST56F doesn't have a single 12V - it's an Enhance dual 12V build. It's the ST56ZF with the single 12V... that "Z" makes a big difference.

The TR2 is inferior quality to the Purepower RX.

thank you very much, so that's mean i should stay away from tr2 right?

TBH, if you simply buy a really high quality power supply, like one of the Corsair or Seasonics, you shouldn't need to even bother looking at the voltages. A VX450 will power that easily, great power supply, mine's very quiet.

Umm, guys, you do know that OP is from Indonesia right? Check post # 12. So newegg won't work for him...

um there are three corsair model here and the only one i can afford is 450W model with a tag of $80 while 520W model is $116 which is....nope, can't do.

i'm about to make out my mind now as there's only one stock of TT RX550 left in local store, so please if there's any other opinion, tell me ASAP.
