Power supply will be powering the following:
Intel Q6600
Abit IP35 Pro
XFX 8800 Ultra XXX edition
XFX 8600 GT (auxiliary monitors)
4GB DDR2 PC6400 (2x 2GB)
4x WD 250GB 7200.10 SATAII drives in raid 0
2x Samsung SATA DVD-RW
Silverstone TJ03 case

I currently own both power supplies. I'm trying to decide which to keep and which to return. Everyone keeps hailing the Corsair as the greatest power supply in its class, however, I find the cables to be of absolute SHIT quality. Not only are they not sleeved, they feel generally thin and cheap. The Mushkin on the other hand has a high quality, professional sleeving job from the factory, and the cables seem to be of much better quality with the shielding. The Mushkin also has an additional 12v rail over the Corsair, and seems to put out more total Amperage as well (Corsair = 18A x3rails) (Mushkin = 20A x4rails). Even though my case doesn't have a window, I still like my wiring job to be flawless. Both power supplies seem to do a fine job powering my system under heavy loads, however this is my basic dilemma:

Corsair
+Zomg Corsair is the best
- Shitty modular cables

Mushkin
+Nice modular cables, quad rails, seemingly more power
-Zomg Corsair is the best

What's your guys take between these two?

Mushkin:

Corsair

I have never heard of the Mushkin power supply. It looks good, but the HX620 is a known good unit according to *several* reviews I have read. I just ordered one myself.

Corsair = OEM Seasonic
Mushkin = OEM Topower

My choice would be the Corsair by a landslide - methinks crap cables with good electronics are better than good cables with crap electronics any day :)

The Corsair is also more powerful - 12v @ 50A on one rail (the 18A x3 is a holdover from when it still had individual OCP to split them) vs. 44A @ 12V combined on the Mushkin.

Corsair hands down,NO contest at all !!! I have one of every model they have released as yet,but the 750TX and all are rock solid.

Looking forward to a higher rated HX model that was recently hinted at by Kyle  :D

Oh,and Corsair modular cables are far from crap, they are damn good.in looks and usability.Very flexable and easy to snake through a case.Decent length as well

Disclaminer: I have a Corsair VX-550 and absolutely love it, apparently due to the modular cables they are not as heavy as the one on my unit which are sleeved well and very heavy/thick wire. But on to some technical arguments.

eh, the muskin, if you look at the label has a combined +12 power output rating of 44A.

So you can have all those rails but you are not going to get more than 44A out of them. NOT the 80A a first glance would lead you to beleive. 44A is 528Watts.

The corsiar is rated 600W on the +12 combined, that is 50A of +12.

------------------------------------------

That said they are both decent supplies and you are very concerned about looks, keep the muskin, it will do just fine, but I belevie the Corsair is a better overall supply.

oh crap I now see Oklahoma Wolf nailed it.

Corsair all the way. OEM is Seasonic who makes fantastic PSU's

EDIT BTW I own a Corsair VX 450 and its fantastic for the price.

There is a problem with Corsair PSUs and the IP35 motherboard that affects a small, but significant, number of people. It seems that nobody at Corsair has been able to reproduce the problem in the lab but there are a few people who have experienced problems (myself included). It is likely that the Corsair PSU will work just fine... but there's also the chance it won't.

The few threads I've read

Most of the people did an rma on the boards

and the problem was solved

What's the UL Number of that Mushkin PSU? It's under the logo with reversed R and normal U.

Another vouch for the corsair. I read a review over on xtremesystems on the mushkin, not bad, but the corsair is just a phenomenal piece of hardware .

I find the cables to be of absolute SHIT quality. Not only are they not sleeved, they feel generally thin and cheap.

The WIRES are the same gauge as any other PSU's wires. The fact that they're NOT sleeved or have some kooky snake skin like cover over them may make them "feel" cheap, but they're not any different than anyone else's.

And why would you sleevel all black wires? They're molded together in one color so you can hide them easier. It's harder to hide sleeved cables.

Agreed, the wires make cable management MUCH easier. It would be nice to see other manufacturers take a hint.

Yeah. Like Ultra. Damn them!!!! Oh wait... They did it first. :D
