Here are the promised pictures of my server room. The white Compaq server is a MySQL server for a friend's game patch.. The black server is my file server and the HP case on the shelf houses my second htpc. The last shots are of my bedroom, ie mainbox and my main htpc....

I have the DGL-4100 connected to my cable modem, and this router has the web server (MySQL) on it with certain ports forwarded through... The DGL-4300 is my home's personal router, all my computers are protected behind this. The only area I could be a attacked would be a man in the middle attack on my web traffic going through the first router, but I am not that worried, basically I use for the 2 lans, both with NAT, that it provides...

My workstation:

Computer Stack:

8 port gigabit switch servicing the top 2 desktops machines (Linux and Windows) and the middle 2 racks (Sandbox, and Bittorrent), as well as the media pc in the living room (on another 5-port gigabit switch). 16 port 100 megabit switch for everything else, including the drops to the office and workbench. Linksys WRT54G, Dlink DL-614+, and Airport express handle my wireless. (54bit WPA/Legacy 11mbit WEP/Using my 2nd IP respectively)

The thing at the top of the rack is a 12 port 3com 10/100 hub. It's for the top rack unit, which has 8 P-200MMX blades :) No, I don't use it for much...

Router:

That's my ghetto m0n0wall (Freebsd) router based on a prototype Nexcom embedded board. It's solid state, running off of compact flash. I put the box and the fan on top because the unit (Via C3 underclocked @ 400mhz, fanless) ran toasty warm. My Linksys and Dlink routers were causing me so much grief that I pulled the Nexcom out of mothballs and set it up.

Laptops:

Here's why I need 3 wireless networks. Left to right:
IBM Thinkpad A21p
Apple Macbook (2ghz)
Panasonic Toughbook CF-M34 mkI
Fujitsu U8240 UMPC
Sharp Zaurus SL-C3000

Edit: Nuts - I can't believe I forgot a laptop :p
Libretto U100 7" sub-notebook (on the lieft):

Love the tractors. :D What, have you been living in the same room since you were born or something?
Yes I have, I turning 20 on Sunday and hoping to move out in the next 1 year or soon, need a better job before I dare buy a house.....

Buy? I think you'll find that you'll be renting for a long while before you buy.

There is not a huge reason to move from my parents till I can buy a house, I really do not want to rent, once I have a place, I like to invest myself, on my parents house, my dad friends and I have done everything from roofing to electrical and low voltage wiring, I am a huge DIY guy, I am sick of fixing everyone else's mistakes.... I have been watching This Old House/ ATOH/ Hometime/ New Yankee Workshop since I was like 14, and have a nice shop and tool set to do about everything.. Also the HTPC and mainbox desk, were put together by myself, as I went shopping for a desk, and what i wanted was $1000s to pressed wood, and I ended up spending 2hrs building my own......
I am a tech at a mom and pops computer shop, just not making enough to pay for a house payment yet, but a friend is working on getting me into a large firms IT, where I want to move up to a network admin with all the certs to go with it......

On server : NAT,QoS,Firewall,Samba (1Tb file sharing),IceCast (streaming radio from TV-Tuner),TorrentFlux,Q3 & CS game servers )))

Red is Network points around my house
Yellow is my server
Light blue is the Internet
Dark Blue is to apple airport that allows me to print wirelessly.

The computer on the left is my main computer and the one on the right is my SBS server that handles all the usual SBS features DHCP, DNS exchange etc etc.

It all sits on my hifi rack that has been converted into my computer rack via a bit of drilling and cutting.

The switch is a Dell 2716 16 port web managed gigabit switch, got it for £80 all in (brand new), which is a bargain as its transpher speeds are really good. The web interface works fine too.

If any one needs any more info on specs etc please let me know.

Phil

If you can take the plastic part of your case off I would, you'd prolly get like twice the air flow in that box

There is no difference in temps --- tested ;) UPS and ADSL modem on top are cold... The main problem of this "box" is a dust (there r no filters on fans) :(

Sorry for my English, i am from Ukraine.

My network is small, but it's FIERCE.

Motorola cable modem to WRT54G: (look at that SPEED DUST!)

Goes to flatmate's computer, and two 360's (one wireless) and a Dreamcast and one to the server closet:

Linksys switch connecting my computer and two Dell PowerEdge 2200's, one running Windows 2000 Server and the other Debian or something like that. (Flatmate is toying with it.) The W2K box runs F@H and uTorrent and does periodic file backups.

What happen to the monitor

ISDN modem next to it several years ago caught fire and so did the plastic on the monitor. The screen has to be readjusted every time the resolution changes because the "save button" is on the far left, and has melted into the faceplate. Otherwise it's fine.
