Well Canadian winter seems to be coming about 2 degrees C, so my cores Idle at 19C with 1.5V running to the core....so I'll be doing my garage overclock soon. I'm hoping to get up to 3.5GHz, anyone here have advice for going from 3.4 to 3.5?

UPDATE

Added: Anchen (good oc of Q6600 and nice cpu cooler!), Nahid (First E6850! entry, sorry not complete please add week code and bios version, also cpu-z link is linked to my example haha), DarkAtom (Very high OC of Q6600, Nice mobo!), dnottis (this is your 4th entry will delete your e6300 or which one you choose, very good oc of Q6600! )

Deleted: none

Editted: oozish (replaced G.Skill wiht OCZ for RAM of Q6600), haadij404 (changed ram speed from 996 to 925mhz)

bios you find through CPU-Z and week and code are either on the CPU box or on the CPU itself.

Thanks videomasterz for updating

thanks for the info for Nahid ... and no problem dude :) got an E6750 to 3ghz stable on intel stock for 4 and a half hours..

got a different e6750 to 3.6ghz not stable yet....

anyone that has a Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4 board out there!!! having a hard time overclocking that E6750 on it :(

I agree, thanks for updating this videomasterz. I might have an update to my q6600 entry coming soon heh.

First off I would like to say I'm really limited in my ability to OC as I can not change the Vcore. Even though it is only a 10% OC I hope I can still get it on the list.

Didn't do as much testing this time unfortunately, so it was only a bit over 4 hours. I'll run it longer at some point since I want to make sure it's completely stable. Anyone know if I can leave it at this voltage without much issue? The VCore is based on the number inputted in the bios by the way. I changed my configuration just a little bit, switching the top fans of my TJ09 to intake instead of exhaust which seemed to help my temps a bit. I might try a bay fan at some point and switch one or both back to exhaust..

videomasterz - my entry was for 3717 Mhz, I had screenshots but in the text I had the wrong number listed - sorry about that. My post is here - http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1031664154&postcount=981

dnottis, i should of caught that.... i will edit when i update the db again in a couple of days.. thanks!!

and damnit! my asus maximus formula special edition board has been lost in the mail :( hopefully i get it soon!! the tracking # said missent ??! im like what the hell....

new chip for me.. weeee! first one in over a year! craziness..

still very early on in the ocing testing.. but this is what I have so far:

User Name: revenant
Stability: 8 hours 31 minutes 5 seconds / Small FFTs orthos

CPU: E6850
OC: 3600MHz
Stepping: G0
Week: L730
Code: A968

Bios Version: F4
Operating System: Windows XP Pro w/ sp2

RAM brand: Crucial
RAM rated speed: ddr2-1000
RAM actual speed: 800
Latency: 3-3-3-9

as I said.. still very early on in the testing, but so far the load temps are insanely low.. 40c with the occational blip at 41c... and this is on fresh AS5.. I am hoping for 3.8+ ghz out of this chip.. :)

edit: still only 40c load temps!!!!!!! this is nutz.. coretemp reading also... maybe I scored a nice conroe this time around.. whew. fingers X'd!

got 8.5 hours of orthos and all was good.. I know 24 hours is better, but I wanted to game this morning... so far so good.. I'll try for 3.7 soon.. then 3.8 if that goes well.. I am thinking 475 * 8 would be the best performing method of getting 3.8ghz... but I will have to relax my mem timings to run linked and sync'd..

Great to see everyones still getting kick ass results with these Core 2's. Haven't checked up on this thread in a while but I am super glad this processor kicks so much ass.

is there anywhere this nice table in excel for download? I would like kind of make a filtering and sorting and adding purchase prices in order to be able to get the best price/performance rated mobo+cpu which would fit my needs..
Thank you in advance

i have been planning for awhile to make the excel spreadsheet available for download... just havnt found time to do it, i have the webhost and all but if you would like it personally pm me your email and ill email it to you...

I still can't find the "Week," "Code," & "Bios Version." Any additional help w/ this stuff I would greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance.

It's on the Physical TOP of the processor, meaning you have to remove your heatsink to take a look at it. Or, if you still have the box, it's on the flap of the box.

Bios version is listed upon POST, or you can take a look at it through Everest, by Lavalys.

Posting for my brother, his account here has disappeared:

I'm trying to get him to reregister and post.

ok cool... make him re register and post in the format and I'll put it up! :D

the Asus Maximus Formula special edition board I got in is pretty cool.. has alot of features.. been messing around with it for about 3 days... the thing is I can only get my processor 3.42ghz stable.. cant do 3.6ghz wont be stable enough.. and temps are high already!!

I need the newer processors thinknig about getting the e6850 :D or the new quad 45nm cpus :D

hi videomasterz, would it not be so much easier for you if you asked folks to submit the information in CSV format?

I mean, it pains me to think you you having to retype info every time there is a new entry.

Anyways, just a thought, but here is mine:

SpeedyVV, 8:30 Orthos Blend, Q6600, 3240, B G0, L737, A721, 1.36, Air, Zalman 97 NT, eVGA 680i SLI, P30, XP Pro x86, Corsair, 6400, 800, 4-4-4-12

yeah csv format is a good idea. ill look more into this.... and yes I do type in everything by hand!!

If this is the wrong place to ask then I appologize. I just purchased a new Q6600 (still waiting for all my parts to come). My question is what's this "code" number? Is that the number that is next to the fpo number on the box? The box reads FPO/BATCH

Thanks!
