Post your pc screen shots!

Thank you very much.
I got it all up and running other than how do I get the glass text style bar? I use to use Objectdock and never could never figure it out, then tried rocketdock but I forgot to give it a try, with this setup I really want to try to have the glass text style, any help.

Never mind, I was just messing up the program and figured it out. I just need to find a new background that I like and I think my new setup will be complete.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I think it's the dock icons (RKLauncher)?

If so, the icons I'm using can be found here.

Also, the dock background/theme which gives it the white outline can be found here. To install it, just extract it and drop it in the Themes (might be skins... Dunno, going off of memory) subfolder.

Here's
the link to the VS version of Kuro that I was missing earlier.

Edit: You beat me. :p

Just got 2 22" NEC MultiSync FE1250+ monitors for $40 today. Thinking about picking up a third... anyone know how well my 8800GTS would play along with a PCI Radeon 9250? Anyway, heres my desktop now. 3840x1440 goodness :D Click the thumbnail for full size.

Damn... good deal...

You likely won't have any problems with that ATI card.... I have had driver conflicts in the past when mixing video card drivers, but not recently.... it should be fine...

What dock is that your using?

How did you manage to get the Ultramon taskbar to use a white font? I've never been able to use dark themes properly with it because it won't let me change the font color.

I'm using Rocketdock and the theme "Almost Squared", got it off deviantart. I don't remember the name of the icon theme, but if you look on deviantart it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I think I'm going to go for a third monitor and just try my luck with that card. Worst case scenario, I'll pick up a 5x00 pci card on the cheap.. I'd love to get down on some wrap-around monitor Flight Simulator X action. My wife is asking for one too, which means I'm definately going to need a new desk :p Still, at $20 a pop I can't complain. In fact, I'm tempted to grab about 5 more just as backups for when they inevitably burn out. The guy said he has about 30 of them.

Got new monitors since the last time I've posted in here. I now have a TX-42 and a 21" Dell CRT. They actually work very well together, giving me the best of both worlds.

Well that didn't last long, I decided I didn't really like the different setup I tried. Back with a new theme though.

More importantly, where are you getting 22 inch widescreens for $40????

Was browsing around for some NYC shots earlier, found a thread over at SkyScraperCity that has quite possibly the single greatest collection of NYC shots ever collected in one thread/place. Reminds me somewhat of the "Babe Thread" we had here at the HardForum years past: one thread with so many awesome pics the servers just couldn't handle it.

But, I spent like an hour and a half going through all 54 pages and pulled out some of my faves. There's a guy over there that goes by RFCGRAPHICS and is a photographer extraordinaire. He's got some wicked HDR shots of NYC at various times of day that I love. I found this one - it's not by RFCGRAPHICS, however - and thought it would make an awesome wallpaper sooo... it graces my Desktop at this moment.

Pagan Wizard: Those monitors are CRTs, and surprisingly, these days a lot of people and companies are dumping CRTs for LCDs like... well... they're going outta style. I grabbed a 21" Viewsonic recently for free just because the owner couldn't stand having the behemoth around anymore. Got a Sony 19" G400 over the summer - when that thing was brand new it was THE CRT to own and the price reflected it. But it was the most awesome CRT when it came out years ago. Some architect that has a vacation home here in Vegas bought it brand new, and only came here like 2-3 weeks out of a year. So when I grabbed it from him 6 years later, it barely had 3 months of actual use and was practically brand new when I first got it off him for $40. Amazing picture quality, but then again, CRTs are still better for that (personal opinion there).

22" CRTs (and they're not widescreen, btw) are getting cheap if you look around. Try Craig's List if you have one in your area (www.craigslist.org for a list of cities) and you'd be surprised what you can find dirt cheap. He's apparently running "normal" 4:3 ratio tubes at widescreen resolutions - that's what I'm doing: I run this Viewsonic 21" CRT at 1920x1200 @ 75 Hz, works great, plently of room and I can read it several feet away. My Wife says I'll go blind but, hell, I already wear glasses, who cares. :) I see people with 20" LCDs stuck at 1680x1050 and laugh sometimes. I can run that resolution and nearly anything else, all the way up to 2048x1536 on this 21" - the Sony can do that resolution (and it's just a 19") at 75 Hz too. As I said, it was and still is a freakin' amazing CRT.

Do you know what that is in the picture, my brain is not thinking. I might be able to find it if I know what the picture is of.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know for certain what its a picture of, it looks like a processor maybe? Could be just a silicon chip? I don't know but I wants it!!

That's why I decided to go for CRTs again. I had a 20" widescreen LCD. It was nice but the problems with viewing angles and being limited to only 1680x1050 bothered me too much. I just picked up these 2 NEC MultiSync FE1250+ 22" monitors for $20 a pop and I couldn't be happier. All the resolution I need, with the ability to scale back if needed (Crysis being a good example of that). One of them is a little dimmer than the other, but its nothing that nvidia control panel can't fix. I'm seriously considering buying a couple of them and just storing them away for when these tubes eventually burn out, since I'm afraid CRTs will be hard to find by then.

My only question is why you're running a widescreen res on a 4:3 monitor? The distorted images would drive me batty.

$20, $40 for two :) If you're in PA, it might be worth your while to get ahold of this guy. He will ship but that kind of kills the deal.

The monitors are in relatively good shape. One of the ones I bought has some yellowing of the case and a small crack on the upper left hand corner, but the picture is spectacular. The other one has a nearly flawless case, but the picture is dimmer. Go figure. Both of them have some sticker residue on the case, nothing some goo gone wouldn't fix. For the price, I'm happy, even with the one that's dim. I can do 1920x1440 @ 72hz, and the picture is beautiful. Colors are vibrant and text is sharp. The only downside is obviously their size. They're about as deep as they are wide, and weigh around 70lbs.

Not to get too far off topic, but when I run this thing at 1920x1200 I obviously change the vertical parameters on the monitor - I end up with a perfect 1920x1200 image that's exactly what 1920x1200 should look like, with the proper aspect ratio.

Yes, I end up with basically a 1920x1200 "letterboxed" desktop with big black bars top and bottom, but it really doesn't matter because when I want the resolution and the desktop real estate I can do it. Normal resolution is 1600x1200 at 75 Hz. If I could run at 1920x1440 on this I would, but this older Viewsonic can't do that resolution at 70 Hz or higher, only 60 Hz. Weird because it can do 1920x1200 at 75 Hz without breaking a sweat. :)

So, I can run 1920x1200 with the proper aspect ratio without issues, and it's clear from several feet away even with default Windows fonts. If I run Vista it looks even better, but that's primarily due to the SegoeUI font - the default in Vista. It's so much better than Tahoma in XP, and at some point I may switch out the font sets in this installation of 2K3 with SegoeUI just because it kicks so much ass...

If I could actually afford one, I'd probably grab one of those older Sony FW900 flat screen 24" CRTs, those huge freakin' monster CRTs. Why? Just because... :)
