I read a few previews on this game, and it seems like it could be a lot of fun. Shockling enough, there were no threads on this game that came up in the search. Is anyone planning on purchasing this or has had experience with it already?

I played the beta and honestly it was boring. The combat gets old, and everyone seems to have the same powers (Logos). I didn't play up to the class split at level 10 because it didn't hold my interest, but maybe the game picks up by then.

Zero Punctuation
sums it up well.

I too have been looking at this but decided to hold off to see if it gets any decent reviews.

Waiting to hear what a friend says. Looks interesting.

two words... "no endgame" ... the endgame is all guild based PvP while the entire run-up to the end-game is all PvE... retarded, right? ... thats what I thought.

I was in the beta for a really long time... the action is fun, but once you master what enemy is weak to what type of weapon, its all downhill from there... the "class" distinctions are really irrelevant... no class is critical to anything, not tank nor healer or anything for that matter..

your special abilities or as they're known in every other game as "spells" are fun, yes, but nothing really special when compared to just blowing the shit out of something with your shotgun...

all of this could have been forgivable if there was an end-game... but there isnt, and I predict there might not be, because I got burned by Vanguard, just sitting there hoping for the miracle patch didnt save that game nor will I fall for that BS again...

no raiding = no endgame = no subscription...

Sure, if you're one of those people that think MMOs are all about racing to the level cap and then raiding, raiding, raiding. Unfortunately I find raids repetitive and lazy as a solution to endgame content, but then I'm also not a PvP fan so unless TR comes up with something else to keep the game interesting at the top end there doesn't sound like there's much there to keep me playing. I did pick it up, but I haven't got stuck in yet.

MMOs aren't about hitting the cap - they're inherently social environments. The thing is, once you hit the level cap, you still need something to do. Raids might not be the best solution but at least they're -a- solution.

The main reason to race to the level cap in most games is because, in a game that's been out for a while, that's where everyone else is & most games don't provide any mechanism or incentive for high-level characters to interact with lower level characters. You want to be at the level cap because that's where everyone else is.

Too little distinction between characters/classes at the low levels, I lost interest around level 7 in the beta. I do love the environment, they pulled off a "Military installations in alien territory" well.

It is FAR too linear though. The fact that such a linear game came from someone who built Ultima Online is rather shocking.

Why can't I play on the aliens side?

Also, I don't understand companies gearing games toward PVE in todays market. PVP is a CRITICAL part of any online game.

is it pay to play? i cant find anything that says it is...and if it is how much is it?

EDIT: Found it its $14.99 a month to play...

i played the beta towards the end. i hated it. i gave it about 8 hours of time couldn't take it anymore.

it is like a FPS MMORPG. you point towards something, lock on and click over and over to fire your gun and use all the new skills you earn.

if you ever tried any of the asian mmorpg it is very similar. heavy on endless killing to advance.

there is a quest system in place much like everything else, talk to people with big yellow ! on their head.

Of course it's pay-to-play, it's a "major" mmorpg.

well the reason i was asking was because i couldn't find any info on pricing except the $50 for the game...i knew there must be some but i couldn't find any on any webstite until i got to the plaync site

I just ordered this game for $30, hopefully it isn't too bad. I have a couple of friends getting into the game too, so maybe that'll make it a little better.

For me it's just a tide-over until Warhammer Online comes out next spring.:D

OK I just got my copy of the game, installed and it's updating, however I am having a hard time finding any decent forums relating to this game. How the hell do they not have an official forum?? Any suggestions?

Lol no official forum. Anway, this game sounds interesting and if any current players wanna hook me up with the new 3 day free trial that would be great.

I won this game from a website but I really had no intentions of playing anyway after I nearly fell asleep from playing the beta. Anyway, I gave it another shot but didn't last 2 weeks before I canceled. I have a some 3 day pass invites if anyone wants. Just PM me your email address and it's yours. I can have 4 invites out at a time.

That's kinda disheartening. The game seems allright so far (I'm lvl 5 soldier currently) although the UI is a bit squirrelly. Shotgun = awesome. The intro video was fanfuckingtastic. It reminds me of war of the worlds. On an unrelated note I thought it was funny how in the middle of a jungle on an alien planet they have a Dell Xps desktop computer set up in a tent. I wonder if Dell will still honor their warranties in the future if we are invaded by aliens and forced to flee to another planet through a worm hole.

Got the email for the trial, thanks phobic. After quitting WoW i have an MMO itch that needs scratched, tried EVE and zomg lol.

Just picked this up and like it. I am starting a Clan on the Pegasus server if anyone is interested.

I've always hated the boring "action combat" of MMONRPGs which flatly speaking is what puts the grind in grind. Good FPS's or action/arcade gameplay rarely feels repatitively mind-numbing because it is intrinsically fun. For this reason, I've been looking forward to someone managing a true MMONRPG+FPS for a long time.

TB isn't it. Maybe Hellgate, but I've yet to play that. I could forgive TB's gaping flaws (generic & tired story, low-rent graphics, cumbersome interface, etc) if only it had fun FPS type action. It doesn't. It might be a step beyond WoW/EQ because you can duck behind obstacles but it fails to feel like real action. The weapon design seems meant to replicate the WoW ranged combat experience where most enemies I encountered had homing missile-type attacks (which even magically penetrate said obstacles). You'll see a lot of fans of the shotgun because its one of the only weapons that feels like it should.

I can't explain just how or why but it just doesn't feel quick, visceral, and fun the way FPS combat generally is. I'll keep waiting.

HGL is very similar to TR with less of a storyline. Also, the chat system is something I hope they fix in HGL asap. TR has more polish but HGL is a but more FPS feel but still not really fps or MMO.

does this game have any single player element?

i'm not into MMORPG's but will get it if it has a decent single player aspect.

if its strictly a MMO then i'll forget it but i did see a game guide with levels and how to get through them which makes me think there's single player action

I have a small group of friends that just started a clan. We play together sometimes and others I will just run around and quest alone. Some quests you do need help with but most of the one's I have encountered are also solo style.
