Here goes:

Can more than one person in the house hold be using the sling box at the same time? If yes is their a performance hit?

Second, can I take my coaxial cable that comes out of the wall and plug it right into the sling box PRO or does it have to go through a cable box this is normal cable service not high def? I would assume yes because they give you a cable splitter with the Sling Box Pro

i'm assuming it doesn't work on digital cable.. since nothing works on digital cable...

channel 2-73 ftw

I haven't looked at slingboxes in a while, but the last time i did, them things were streaming like 384k video's... i think youtube is better quality. If they haven't improved that, waste of money IMO

It works with digital cable, you get an IR blaster with the Pro that can change the channels on the box. If you get the high def adaptor, it'll take component input for high def streaming. I've been trying to get one for a month, but buy.com uses FedEx who decided to deliver it to the wrong house. Still trying to get that worked out, go through amazon if your buying online.

oh my god, they take HD inputs now ?

who has that kind of upstream ?

I'm in the UK and I've had one for about 6 months now. I've got the Pro version.

Questions firstly...

Only one device can connect to it at a time. It's a major limitation, but it's probably an anti-piracy issue.

It works with anything. Mine is hooked up to a Sky Digital box, and not only can you change channels, any channel you can access normally, you can access via the slingbox.

Over here it just kinda sits between your TV and whatever device you hook it upto. Because it literally just sits between your TV and whatever device you connect it to, it will work with anything SD. For HD you'll need the newest version.

Like so:

Sky Digibox ---------- > Slingbox ------------> TV

It's pretty easy to setup, and the instructions are very easy to follow.

It's a pretty cool idea, but obviously because SDTV is such low resolution, it's kinda limited. My dad seems pretty happy with it though, and he was the reason we bought it, due to him working abroad all the time.

I'm tempted to upgrade to the newest version, due to it's HD streaming capabilities, and the fact it allows you to connect upto 4 devices I think, but I can't really justify the cost.

I'm still searching for an answer to one of the OP's questions.

My cable comes out of the wall (duh!) and straight into my TV. There is no cable box. Can I just take the TV feed and connect it directly to the Sling Box? I'm not sure how I would change channels since there would be no IR hookup.

Alternatively, I wonder if I could use the video/audio out on my TV and feed that to the sling box? Any ideas?

Thanks.

I have been checking this out today, and I saw a "slingbox tuner" version on their website, so it looks like that'll do it.
