What is the best 22" LCD for under $350? I have an E6750 and 8800 GTS 640MB. I will be mostly gaming and programming. Maybe watch some movies/videos here and there.

I'm leaning towards the Samsung 226BW.

I think you have 2 main competitors:

HP W2207
Samsung 226CW

Nobody should be buying the 226BW at this point, because the CW has slightly improved colors vs the BW for same price.

The HP seems to be very popular, but the HP has 3 choices of panels: innolux, lg, samsung. The 226CW is a true samsung panel.

personally I think you cant go wrong with the HP(non-innolux) or the 226cw

Looks like I have to do more research... but yeah deff between 226CW and that HP.

since when was the 226CW the same price as the 226BW? its over $100 more here last i checked 2 weeks ago.

Another monitor you may want to consider would be the new Gateway HD2200.

Pros: Touch Controls, HDMI, Built-in Video Processing, Very Fast, Nice Metal Trim, Neat Software
Cons: Where is the USB hub (infomation states that it has 4 ports) and the speaker bar in the picture?

"After 2hrs this is already the best monitor and tv I have ever had. I can hook up my PS3 and do HD gaming. Also PiP through the VGA or Component Inputs while using HDMI/DVI. But where is my USB ports???? And speaker bar? I was looking forward to the USBs. Bestbuy is good they will fix this tomorrow."

I don't see a usb hub listed for the HD2200. There is one listed for the HD2400. Neither monitor is listed on Gateway, so its hard to see what mistake Bestbuy may have made.

After much reading on the A,C, and S display stuff people posted I got the Samsung 226BW from Amazon under $300 (Before Rebate) and couldn't be happier. DVD's and gaming look great. Better than the 19" Viewsonic VX924 this one replaced.
The 226CW is still $60 more everywhere I checked today.
There is a new LG monitor that's getting good reviews too. LG 226WTQ

Oh well, I must be a fool then because I just bought the 226bw a few days ago for $300.00 at Futureshop in Canada. But no one up here even has the CW model and if they did I can guarantee it would be more than $300.00 so maybe i am not such a fool after all.

This link speaks for itself. 226bw is top selling LCD at NCIX and I got it for $30.00 less than they are selling it for.

Think I'll go with the 226BW. I've always been a huge fan on Samsung monitors. $310 shipped + $40 rebate can't be beat for that price.

However, Just to be safe I'm going to run to Best Buy tomorrow and see if I like the 226CW better.

The 226cw is not better for gaming than any of the 226bw panels.

226bw S panel vs 226cw:

The 226bw S panel is THE best 22" monitor for gaming, but it is hard, maybe impossible to get. The A panel is as good as the best of the rest, and the C panel is not far behind. It's really too bad you have to play the panel lottery.

The Samsung 2232BW is the 226bw with a LCDTV-like bezel and supposedly all are S panels.

I would just get the Samsung 215tw now that there is a $100 rebate. No need to gamble on an S, A or C version

I've got a 22" Acer monitor that looks just as good as these $300 Samsung monitors and it's just over $200.

The 215tw also has video inputs. Some people have complained about input lag on that monitor though.

I have the Samsung 216bw and love it. It is a 21.6" ws lcd. Not a 22, but close enough. Still a TN panel though but I don't mind it.

Looking at all of those links the CW has more input lag than the BW no matter which version of BW. I thought the issue with the 226BW variation in panels was a color calibration issue and nothing to do with performance?

Which model? The cheaper Acer LCD's have a slower response time and more input lag.

I wasnt aware there wasn an S panel for the 226bw at all.

Is that the true samsung panel? If so, what's the dif betwen 226cw and the S panel

I didn't wanna order a monitor online, and no best buys had the 226CW in stock in my area.

I went to a best buy though and they had the 226BW on display. I checked on the back and it was an S panel. Told the dude i would take the floor model, and so got it for 321( 10% discount for being display model ) bucks including tax. No dead pixels, looks beautiful. I coulda ordered online, but I wanted a guaranteed S panel.

I have never owned an LCD before. I came from 2 samsung CRTs prior to this. So for me, I am amazed at how badass the display looks.

for indepth issues regarding the 226 BW, read the below link. It also has fixes to make your A panel almost identical to S panels.

http://www.behardware.com/articles/667-1/samsung-226bw-a-and-s-series-the-verdict.html

also appears best buy no longer has the 226BW instock. It has been discontinued, if you want a guaranteed S panel, go into a best buy, and just look on the back of there floor model.
