So i had four hard drives fail on me over a course of three months.
Two were seagate (array died and i think the pata controller was to blame) 400gb hd's
and two western digital hds also 400.

WD has been fighting me over replacing/repairing due to them not being able to ship to APO/FPO overseas boxes.

Seagates website wouldn't allow me to rma them. I contacted support, two days later i had an email saying they'd authorize the rma. Now two weeks later i have two new hds and they upgraded them to 500gb's at that. Not only did someone go out of their way to send via usps (was stamped at a post office) but they also did so in a timely manner.

I for one am convinced in their customer service.

Now western digital on the other hand.. i'm still fighting.

I will say that WD has been good in the states though so my case is a little less common.

Either way.. SEAGATE YOU ROCK!!

If you have that many drives fail on your in that short of time, I would look at why. *cough* Most likely your PSU. ;)

I broke my SATA connectors off mine when i first got it, sent/replaced within 10 days.

Yeah what PSU do you have?

Oh and Seagate is awesome. Once had a 300GB Seagate drive that died after a month's use. A week later, Seagate gave me a lovely 400GB drive! I later figured out that my PSU were killing my hard drives.

I have a Seagate building in my backyard, I wonder if I could walk over there I get mine replaced...

I've always had really good luck with Seagate RMA. I'll be sending out a 500 gig drive to them next week. Poor thing is making horrible noises after being on for an hour, like a bearing went bad or something.

WD has been good to me too in the past.

I sent Seagate a dead 160GB, got a 250 back. :D

WD has been just as fast, but when I send in a 160, I get a 160 back. The only hd's I've ever had fail on me have been a Seagate and WD 160 gig drive, don't know what it is about that number...

Could have been bad batches. :(

I broke the power connection pins off of my drive. The power connection from the psu was a bit tight and i am a bit stupid sometimes.

quick painless rma, easy replacement.

Sorry to hear about WD

the only drive i have ever had fail was the one i broke.....(Knock on wood) and i have 10 drives going 24/7 and i have had some that are too small now and retired due to lack of use.
