I recently misplaced my USB thumb drive and was really worried because it almost ALL of my school information on it because I use it on my PowerBook G4 at home, and also on the PCs at school. Luckily I found it but I was worried the entire time that someone was messing around with my data.

What I'm wondering is, if there is a way to password protect my USB drive (which doesn't have a read-only switch on it) so that you can't access it in either windows or mac os x without entering the password first. Thanks for any help.

Is that going to work on both Windows and Mac?

No. As far as I know, there's no way to do what you want across both Mac and Windows without installing extra software on at least one OS.

Ya there's nothing out there yet, I was looking for something similar when I was working on video editing and saving to portable hard drives but didn't find anything. It's too bad I'm sure there's quite a large market for it.
