post pics of ur p180/p182/190s

First off; sorry for being off topic and sorry if I come off as a jerk BUT!: Prices are never cheap, they are low if anything, after all you don't buy the price -you buy the product. The Freezer 7 may be cheap, even money may be cheap, but prices? Never!
hah. ok. thanks for the clarification.

Munch-
Go for it. The AC Freezer's are great HSFs for the price

How about this one? http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=31278&...com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134

It has received good reviews and is at a cheap price.

I heard cooler master's version is a little better for the money?

Edit: after reading the comparison the Coolermaster is slightly quieter yet just as effective. "The Hyper TX has a slight edge in that the fan is quieter due to the lower potential RPM at load, but both coolers are nearly identical in every other aspect."

but in the price battle, the CM takes it for $12 shipped after rebate.

Do downblowing HSFs generally not do as well in these cases? I currently have a Big Typhoon but am not thrilled with the temps it is giving me so I'm curious if I would be happier with a Ninja/TR Extreme/Tuniq Tower...happier would mean around a 5C drop in temps vs. my BT...

I reseated my heatsink then went to the BIOS. I watched the temp climb and stablize around 62 C. That still is too hot IMO. I want it down.

What really sucks is that I have a Sceptre monitor that is a piece of shit. It keeps giving me an "Out of Range" message that might have something to do with my temps. My system temp is around 32 C.

Something is definitely wrong there. Idle you shouldn't be getting even /near/ that. Those would be bad /load/ temps. What is your case airflow like? I take it you're in a 900 or P180/182, so it shouldn't be that bad... Not sure what's going on.

The monitor issue usually refers to the refresh rate in the Display Control Panel WIndow

if its an LCD, change the refresh rate to 60 Most LCDs run best at 60. Without the flicker on CRTs IF its a CRT change it to about 75. That should get rid of that message.

FYI in XP its CONTROL PANEL>DISPLAY>SETTING>ADVANCED>MONITOR

I think my airflow is good, or at least as far as I can tell. I have a p180b and replaced all the tricools (except the one for the lower chamber) with Yate Loons. I even added a fan to blow on the video card through the mid chamber. The thing is I've always had "higher" temps than a lot of people report. I live in Austin, TX, but the room the computer is in is quite cool. I don't know what the deal is. I don't want to keep on buying more and more stuff and have the temp stay the same.

And my refresh rate is actually on 59 hertz (I checked that before). It will boot up fine, then once it gets to the vista load screen it goes black for a second then says "out of range." I'm not sure if it's a video card problem or not, but I've never had trouble with it before. I'm just a little confused about what I can do fix the temp issue because I think it might be related.

You did properly apply the thermal paste right?

So I just finished installing my ultra 120 extreme. I'm pretty pissed because it took me an hour to get it into my p182 / evga 680i. Anyone else try this?

Hey, congrats. It's in there -- not something you have to do often, at very least.

Also, how do you install the bottom HD fan?

probably the most common question. you cant install a standard 120mm in the lower hd bay. i know its effing stupid. but if you buy a yate loon 120x120x20mm you can fit it down there with some modding.

What's the optimal screw tightness for silence in the hd cage? The manual says to not overtighten; how do you know if it's too tight? Is there any way to gauge this?

Just experiment. Worst that happens, you have to pull the cage again.

I don't want to offend anyone, but I've been seeing a lot of really basic sorts of questions lately. We're all reasonable people -- trust yourselves a bit more.

hay guys!... quick question.

how do you open the front of the case?! i can't put a cd in...

Updated:

New cooling system. The 1/4" Just wasnt cutting it.

Pump: DangerDen Micro
Hose: 1/2"ID
Reservoir: Swiftech Micro Reservoir
Block: Swiftech (I forget the model, its the older version before appogee)
Radiator: Black Ice 120.2

Seriously doubt that tubing diameter had much of anything to do with the change... more likely the switch from a single fan rad to a dual fan rad. 2x the cooling surface is going to have that effect...

When did I say that the 1/2" Diam was the reason? Dont put words in my mouth. I was reffering to the system as a whole when I said 1/4" Also, this radiator is twice the thickness and twice the length of my old radiator, so its 4x the surface area, not 2.

Also, Im hating what looks like bubbled in the return line, but according to Fluid XP+, this is normal since they say their forumla breaks down and remerges when the fluid is "warmed" - There arent nearly as much as there is in that picture... the light seems to amplify it. However, the system is fully purged, and runs at 42*c 100* load on both cores.

Well, I reseated my heatsink and redid the thermal paste. My temps are now at 42 for both cores.

Can anyone recomend a better program that Speedfan? I just don't like the features and layout at all.

FINALLY I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the vidcard temps still the same... I put two 120mm fans. but it doesn't help.
the prelude that is squeezed right between the two 8800ultra in SLI doesn't help either...

any suggestions?

hey, allow me to say I'm proud of what I accomplished... I'm giving myself a B+. lulz!

regards

my message and pics were reorganized.............. ;)

Good deal. I still need to get a long bridge from OCZ or EVGA if I get another GTX at some point. Board came with a short bridge (makes no sense) and card came with no bridge at all...

hi, your cpu fan is at almost 3500 rpm.... what are you using?????:eek::eek:

that would be the stock HSF my friend (speedfan says 3500 but everest keeps jumping from 2500 to 3500 when it refreshes every 2 seconds, so idk). My TX2 cooler gets here tomorrow.

so the 3500 reading is inaccurate? the zalman 9700, for instance, is 2800 the most.

now you are confusing me.

bridge, ocz, mb short bridge...

please elaborate......

well i think it is accurate. speedfan is showing 3500 too. i think i have it set to 100% in bios because i want my temps as low as they can go.

so you're gonna kill your fan quickly like this..... lulz... :D
