Post your "rate my cables" here

Still trying to figure out how to get this under control. Piping is small, maybe I can run it under the motherboard tray somehow... though I think kinking would be a big problem, as it's fairly stiff stuff.

This is my first build ever and I think I did an alright job with the wiring. I'd like to give it a cleaner look though. Anybody have any suggestions?

Can you run your ATX power cable under the mobo (you might have to remove the sleeve)? Same with the USB/front header cables...Otherwise it looks pretty decent.

Reading your comment about running the ATX power cable behind the MB sparked another idea in my head. I could possibly run my SATA cables for my DVD Burner&Rom up behind the MB instead of right next to it...What do ya think of that? It might require me to take the MB out (which would be a royal pain in the A$$)..not sure though, i'd have to play around with it.

i have a few questions about this!! does the radiator have a pump on it and you have an additional pump in the front? And how the hell is that reservoir sit in the middle like that?

I'll be glad to get more pics later today. For right now, going to try to give a quick answer before I head out.

There are 2 loops in the case. The first is from the single 120mm radiator mounted inside the case in the back to the CPU and back. It is a cheap Thermaltake Silent Water all-in-one kit. A small pump and reservoir are actually mounted to the back of the radiator itself -- the copper thing on it is the reservoir. It's comparable to higher end air cooling and really more trouble than it's worth. I plan to get a nice CPU block at some point and just add it to the loop with the Swiftech 320MCR radiator at some point, but for now it works fine.

The second loop is using the pump in the front, an Eheim 1048. It goes from the pump to the 8800 GTX, on which I've custom-mounted an Aqua Computer CuplexPro CPU block, to the Swiftech 320MCR Quietpower radiator with 3 120mm Yate Loon mid speed fans, then to a T-fitting with the reservoir (a Danger Den fill port reservoir I just didn't bother to mount properly yet) and back to the pump.

Temps are 26-28C idle, 55C load after 8 hours Orthos Small FFTs on the CPU OC'd from 2.13Ghz to 3.2Ghz, vcore set to 1.4v in BIOS, reading at 1.35 under CPU-Z.

Temps are 38C idle 44C load on the 8800 GTX OC'd from 576Mhz to 675Mhz on the core. This is the highest I can keep it stable without a volt mod -- it will run 581Mhz (or whatever the next step is, I can't remember exactly right now) for a while but crashes after a few minutes, and crashes immediately when set to 702Mhz, even when sitting idle. The volt mod is next on my list of things to do.

The reservoir is held up by the stiff tubing and the T fitting to which it is connected. It's also stuck between the tubing for the CPU loop, which helps to hold it upright. It may appear to be 'floating' but is actually more just 'standing'.

For the atx power connector, yes, but not for the SATA cables. take out a few mobo screws and then just slide the cables btw the standoffs and the board. Good idea tho!

You have the myspace angles on your pictures sladesurfer.

Still looks nice, except for the bundle in front of the power supply, and it does make the airflow better, so oh well.

Here's mine. I'm still working on it some, but I think it looks pretty good considering all my fans are hooked up to fan controllers and what not.

my contribution. Not finished yet, still have some sleeving to do, and some more PSU modding to get it pretty down int he PSU chamber.

Just finished cleaning my case up a bit, i think it's the best I could do. Oh and I'm getting some lights for the inside because im tired of looking at a glowing blue case so if you have any suggestions about lighting colors pm me

In my experiance with lighting I have found that a Red tube followed with a light white or bright white tube stands out pretty nice. If red isnt your thing Green or Yellow im sure would look pretty nice as well. Currently I am running a Neo Blue tube on the inside front of the case and a Bright White tube at the inside top of the case. By doing this I dont see the tube light I just see the glow from the light. It gives it a nice clean look.

EDIT: Also, try running that hard drive power cable from the top by the CD roms down the backside behind the Hard drive tray and come out from the inside of the tray to plug into the hard drive from underneath. Also try running your back panel fan power cables to the top and try to tuck them ontop of the PSU running the power connectors to one of the empty CD rom bays. It should give it a cleaner look.

It's taken a while to get my cables to this stage. A few more steps and it should look great I think. Just things like lengthening the PCI-E power cable so I can route it a different way and anchoring down some other cables with cable ties so that they aren't so visible.

u should turn ur zalman hsf so it blowes are strait out the bak fan probs run cooler to doesnt look like it has much space for the fan to suck air

It's actually got a lot more room than it appears to have from that angle. It's not doing too badly anyways considering it keeps the proc at about 35 idle with the fan on its lowest setting. Plus the rear fan is an intake so flipping it around that way probably wouldn't do much good...:p

Do you not have any exhaust fans?

DaMiEn, I'd put a single slot blower in above the 8800 -- with inverted ATX/BTX cases like that a pocket of hot air tends to form above the cards because the little slots toward the back of the fan shroud let air out and a lot of it ends up getting sucked back in to the card since it has nowhere to go.

Damien, I think you're the first person I've seen with a v1200 that does not have it crammed with optical drives, hard drives, watercooling, cold cathodes, and whatnot. You could probably yell into it and hear an echo.

Nice powdercoat job, btw.

If you don't count the PSU and the Video card fans as exhaust fans then nope, none in this case...just lots and lots of tiny little holes.

I am working on designing a shroud that will allow the video card to get some fresh air, but at the moment sensors show it idling around 55 and loading at around 70-77 so I'm not too worried. As for the card above it it's just a tv tuner so a little warm air ain't gonna do it much harm, plus the holes at the top rear of the case do allow for some convection to take place.

There is a lot being said about the cooling solutions in my case (with good reason...from the pictures it looks like a nightmare, with traditional cooling in mind that is). But I have changed things around a bit and done a fair bit of experimenting with different fan configurations. Temps are well under control with the current setup. I'll take the fact that removal of the side panels results in a small jump in temps as a sign of the cases excellent design.

And yeah I know the case looks a bit vacant :p I bought it because my old v1000 felt a little cramped...that and my dad was eying it up so I figured it'd be a good hand-me-up if you will.

Thanks for the comments all

Here's my latest build and wiring attempt:

1mediumiy2.jpg

If only the pci-e cable was a couple inches longer, I'd be able to hide it much better. I didn't want to cut a hole for the 24pin or pci-e cable, so they are going around the motherboard tray.

2mediumev8.jpg

I really wish I could have gotten a black pcb 8800gts since everything else is black/silver/copper.

3mediumla3.jpg

3-pin fan cables and 8-pin power cable routed under the motherboard and through holes I cut in the tray.

4mediumlk9.jpg

I may not keep the USB cable there since it kinda sticks out (can't fit it under the mobo as there's a wire for the CCFL under it already). I don't use the front headers on the case anyways. Hard drives reversed as well.

Nice Job! what is the 3.5" fan controller you have its verry sleek and looks mint on your balck case?
