post pics of ur p180/p182/190s

That's my point. I removed the lower fan to allow all my psu cables to be run through there. See below

Jebo, you can put a lower 120mm in the lower hd bay in the front. you have to get 120x120x20mm (not standard) to make it fit right, i have a 80mm fan in the front zip tied.

like this:

The 120mm fan I have strip mounted on the top 3 bays.

i really like wanna put a fan in the 5.25 bay like you did. does it make a huge difference in temps? also how do you like that vga cooler? what are your temps?

i had it on mine when i was using the p180b and it didnt make a huge difrence

Really? The specs aren't too bad on the site though. They're pretty quiet and push decent air no?

That's what I don't get either...people say they'd rather have the low speed Yate Loon yet here are the specs:

Tricool on low: 39cfm 25dBA
Yate Loon: 47cfm 28dBA

So sure the YL pushes a bit more air but at the cost of more noise...

Exactly. 25db is nearly inaudible and the air it pushes isn't too shabby either. So what's so bad? If someone wants a quiet case with good airflow, isn't it sufficient? Can someone explain why it's "borderline useless"?

i think tricools are a good fan u can run them on low if u dont wana here the comp but if ur playin games or doin things thats gana make ur comp hot u can turn then up

If I remember correct it did wonders for my NB temp (about 8 degrees Celsius) but didn't really affect the rest of my system all that much which is okay as my main concern was to get my NBs temps down (50% OC to 400MHz FSB). As for the ThermalRight HR-03+ it keeps my card around 50 degrees celcius at idle and close to 70 at full load (OC 600MHz core / 900MHz memory using atiTOOL).

Initial noise on the Tri-Cools isn't too bad, but they deteriorate quicker than an Alfa Romeo in the wettest part of Britain. I've seen one go to waste in a month flat.

yer i found one of the tricools in my p180b to stuff up after about 2 months but in my antec 900 they have been great

Just pure subjective observation, I'd personally call bullshit on Antec's specs for the TriCools. Yes, they're that quiet. No, they don't move that much air. Not even close.

here's mine:

there's a couple different configurations that i went through with the fans when i was originally setting things up.

hopefully new stuff will be in there soon and i can do it all over again. oh joy.

I'm having a bit of an issue regarding my front 120mm Tri-Cool intake fan (upper HD cage). It is attached securely to the bracket and the bracket is in firmly with the case, but every few days there is a horrible grinding sound that starts up. It's very loud and obnoxious. If I take off the side panel and push inward on the only part of the fan bracket that is exposed, the noise goes away (or is drastically reduced). If I do this for long enough and then take pressure off the bracket again, it seems okay (but again, only for the next couple of days). What gives? Have any of you experienced this before? It seems more to do with the fan/bracket maybe lightly touching the HD cage, although from what I can see there is a small space between the two. I've removed the fan while it's running and it seems fine.

Any idea's?

My initial response would be "TriCools are junk, it is probably going out on you." but you say it looks fine when you take it out. Not sure then. Granted, you say it runs fine for days at a time, so running fine in your hand is no great surprise.

I bought two 120mm fans to throw in the front of my case, the lower hdd tray and the upper. Got the case out from my desk, took out the hard drives and the fan wouldn't fit in the lower tray! I was plenty upset cause I really didn't wanna buy fans. Thanks for sharing about the non-standard size.

yeah i heard you have to buy 120x120x20mm fan for the lower hd bay. yateloon makes one.

Buy this Fan since it's able to fit in front of the lower HDD bay:

Does anyone have tips on replacing the fan in front of the lower chamber? How do I get it out of there?

There is no fan in the front of the lower chamber. You can add one but it requires case modification and a odd sized fan.

I have the p180 with revision 1.1...for kicks I put one of the tricools on low and placed it in the upper bay since my dvd burner was in the lowest of the four spots...it dropped my cpu temps 2-3C which is great...the amazing thing however is when I opened the front door of the case, within 3 minutes my cpu temps dropped 5C more! That's an amazing difference IMHO...I'd rather not keep the door open though so would having two intake fans get me closer to the effect of having the door open? I don't have extra fans so I'd rather ask here before spending more money...I have a feeling what I really need is a front door with an opening that lines up with the upper intake fan but that doesn't exist...

I should have been more clear. I am referring to the fan that blows into the lower chamber, the one that is next to the PSU. Does anyone have tips on how to pull that sucker out?

I bought some new fans to help with temps in my computer and they don't seem to help. My computer is running at about 81 celcius without me doing anything. I now have 5 fans in the computer and nothing is getting better. Anyone have suggestions on that?

You must have really high ambient temperatures wherever you are. 81C is bordering on causing permanent damage to the CPU -- many Core 2 Duo chips will shut down at 85C to prevent damage, so chances are the machine is not usable

Removing the fan you're referring to is easy. Push the "flap" nearest you inward and slide the fan bracket so that its tabs will come out of the holes -- look on the side of the metal piece opposite the fan to see which way you need to go with it, I don't remember off the top of my head, but I /think/ it's toward you. So, push the flap toward the fan, pull the whole assembly, fan and bracket, toward you. Should come out pretty easily.

Reseat the stock heatsink, if you're using it. Drop any OC you might have back to stock. If that doesn't help, look in to an aftermarket heatsink.

you gotta remove the whole bracket, just pull the big side out and remove, theres a video on youtube, but i cant find it.

I had issues too with that lower chamber fan... Just remove it like they said above. It's easy. What you can't do is remove the metal plate to which the fan is attached. That has rivets.

Yay drills! (you'll notice in my most recent pics that my case is missing the metal from around the floppy drive bay... that was a lot more difficult to get out than that little metal partition panel would be. ;) )

If i put my low speed fan in the lower chamber, will it cool my psu enough? If AUX is my psu in speedfan, then its at 36c with all fans on high.

Yes... it will. the PSU is not dependant on the lower fan very much, since it has its own cooling system. It will still get its air from the front vents... the fan is more for cooling the hard drives. I run my lower fan at roughly 900-1000 rpm, the lowest setting.

Okay, i have a 80mm fan in the front anyways, i will change my fan configuration (which is a huge pain in the butt when having a fan controller).

Should i get rid of my pci cooler too?

I'm definitely going to reseat the heatsink. I'm also going to wipe clean then reapply some arctic silver. I really don't like the heatsink design. That pushpin aspect is horrible.

A Scythe Ninja Plus Rev B. runs around $40 and will do well. A Sunbeam Tuniq Tower will do a bit better for $50 or so. There are plenty of options.
