Introduction

Cleaning out my friends garage he came across an old server case, after hearing I was looking for a new case he called me up and showed me this beauty.

"This is the affordable mission-critical server for departmental file and application servers. This powerful system has a lot of innovative features to offer: memory located on processor board for increased maximum memory on higher performance processor boards, preinstalled NetFlex-3/P Controller, multiple expansion slots; There is Integrated Fast-Wide SCSI-2/P Controller; total of eight drive bays including three removable media bays and five hot-pluggable bays, quadSpeed CD-ROM drive standard, SMART-2/P Array Controller standard on array models, Compaq Insight Manager and Compaq SmartStart standard Redundant power supply upgrade available." -Google

Sounds like a monster in my book!

I didnt get too much modding done yesterday, a combo of too much booze and a trip to go check out some local bands was the plan of the night.

Front logo in all its gawdy goodness. Im not sure what Im going to do with this space after.

Motivation! We called it antifreeze, since when mixed its what it resembled. Thats redbull on the bottom, with blue powerade in the middle and a few shots of vodka sitting on top, poured over ice. Once mixed it was a very nice green, tho I didnt get a pic.

And another...

Here is the front. Im strongly considering keeping it as close to the original look as possible, other than adding a few vandal proof switches and led/ccfl inside the case... but thats a ways off.

Side shot with panel on. Thats my buddy there, hes close to 6' tall, just for reference.

Top mount radiator? Hmmm

I dont think this is standard ATX form factor, that I/O cutout looks bigger than usual...

Front is on a hinged door. Front mount 120.3 radiator... The possibilities!

Very clean layout. That entire HDD rack is getting cut out. This case uses nearly 3mm thick steel! Im planning on using the 5 1/4 bays, its got 2.5 of them tho it looks like 3.

I really like this button. Its got Clear CMOS written all over it. Tho I havent decided completely yet. Dangerous, but then again I have to remove my sound card to clear my CMOS...

RTFM :D Side window is definitely on the menu.

Thats all for now. Im still in the early stages, and wont have access to the case till next weekend. I plan on completely disassembling the case during that time and bringing it home so that I can work on it in short bursts after work and do some better planning.

As it is now this is all done as I go along, tho Im open to ideas from everyone.

Looking forward to seeing what you'll be doing with this :)

I'm a littler unclear on what your goal is, though.

I like old cases! Make us proud.

I like mods to new cases, but mods to old cases is hard to do as the fuckers are thick as hell. But in the end they usually look great.
