I thought this was kind of strange that my gtx isnt breaking a sweat. Most games push it to at least 70c and this includes wow. Bioshock isnt pushing much over idle temps which in this case are around 55c. Fan is at 100% all the time because I have rivatuner set that way... I find this very odd considering all the eye candy.....

well its not a multiplayer game.. only single player... and that suck's I was looking forward to it untill I found out its not online.. I mean there is not even Lan settings... I guess they just rushed the game to much..

I think they just wanted to create a game with a great single player experience. They are to be applauded for doing this. More companies need to concentrate on the single player experience. I'm not saying their shouldn't be multiplayer modes or that there shouldn't be multiplayer games, but I think that too many game developers concetrate on the multiplayer aspect and not enough on the single player.

Personally I'm very pleased with how Bioshock turned out. I'll be getting the full version here very soon.

For quenching the multiplayer fist, Quake Wars, Team Fortress 2, and others are on the horizon.

my 1900xt doesn't really heat up with the game either, but its starting to chug a bit now on the Arcadia level. FPS was excellent to this point but now its dropping into the 10-19 range which is starting to bug me. i hope i can manage to hold out until november for a new video card.

The "Shock" series has always been more RPG that you shoot in rather than FPS. System Shock 2 did have multiplayer co-op but not in the intial retail release. They patched that on later.

P.S. So far it looks like Bioshock is much less "rushed out" than System Shock 2, the later had a huge pile of problems when it was first released.

Agreed, thats like saying Oblivion was rushed because theres no multiplayers .

I love the fact that theres still some games out there that focus on a great and long multiplayer, hell I still play oblivion to this day! Mind you I would of loved for a small multiplayer, like 4 people in a game max type thing, where I could do the oblivion thing, mission share and stuff. I wouldn't want a full blown multiplayer, because then it would become just another fantasy mmorpg.

I could not agree more with your post. I swear I miss the good old days when gamers had nothing BUT the single player aspect of gaming to focus on because that made the single player experience soooo much better. This gave (actually forced) programmers reason to make a great single player game (although there were still bad games back then as well). I think this is the main reason I have been shying away from gaming the last few years. I never have been too much into multiplayer (with the exception of fighting games because mulitplayer is the only way to play those IMO), it's not like I'm anti-multiplayer but I just really enjoy single player games.

After reading that bioshock is a great singleplayer I am now even more anxious to play it.

Thats weird, I didn't noticed any real drops in that part of the game. Which drivers? Might be a vista thing

Agreed. I also love great single player experiences and never have been too much into the online gaming...

it was mainly limited to one part of the level where theres a huge amount of trees and foliage on the screen at once, otherwise the fps isn't too bad. keep in mind that i'm running the game at 1680x1050 with maxed out graphics settings, i think that contributes to slightly lower fps. i'm running the 7.8 drivers with that bioshock hotfix installed.

Single player blows... I can only shoot so many bots before I become bored to tears. If you want a good storyline, why not watch a movie or read a book? Give me a human opponent any day of the week. Boo to single player... hooray deathmatch!

my card only leaps about 3 to 6 degrees when playing bioshock, or the MoH:A demo, or even rainbow 6 Vegas, i think its something to do with the unreal engine.

I will have to check Rainbow 6 Vegas and check as well. If that is the case I wonder why ?

Yep same with Rainbow Six Vegas. Around 60c... Weird. Lower temps and funk visuals FTW !

I agree, we need more sp focused games, i mean, i need something to do when downloading pr0n, which is uh... always...

A movie or a book? You're not in control like you are with a single player game, experiencing it as though you were there. You're passively absorbing the story then.

Why do you think there is such a market for the things?

You're not in control with games either, there is a set story and you must follow it to progress, but I hardly think movies/books can be compared to games, to me books/movies are to relax with, and games are to have fun, I personally don't relax while playing games, they are fun but they get me all wound up.
