Hi, I've flashed my Radeon X1900 XTX with a Radeon X1950 PRO PCI Express BIOS.
After this computer refuse to boot up. When I turn it on I will hear laud noise from graphics card fans and there is no post beep.
For your info I've got original BIOS saved before I've started playing. When I use my SiS PCI graphics card and boot with it into DOS,
ATIFlash doesn't recognize any adapter, no adapter found. I've tried same on Windows XP with ATIFlash for Windows and with ashROM and don't see my ATI card.
Do you guys know any tool that could possibly flash my video card? Thanks in advance...

My error:
atiflash -p 0 -newbios ati.rom -f
adapter not found
Error 0FL01: ....

Never heard of flashing an X1900 with X1950pro before.
Hopefully you can fix it. Try asking at rage 3d.

Why would you do that?

You probably need a PCI video card to boot then reflash.

lol WTF?

The subject shouldn't say 'bad flash' though, you were using the wrong BIOS - what did u expect to happen?

I have a similar problem.

I received a 7950GT which was not being detected when plugged in. I put it in my computer, booted and hear some quick beeps (code beeps meaning no video found) but the computer boot anyway.

I tried to blind flash it to a 7900GS to see if I could get it to work, but even a force flash was failing as I could not get any display at all.

So it's being returned as I'm out of options.

To the OP: try to force a flash. I actually messed up my 7900GS once and nvflash couldn't find an adapter like you said, but I did a force flash and that fixed it.

You can always recover from a bad flash if you have a PCI video card.

Guys
Do you even bother to read the post ? I wrote already that I've got PCI card and it doesn't work way you think it should.

Maybe you just don't know how to do it. I mean you flashed your 1900xtx with a 1950 pro bios. LOL

or you are SCREWED!!!

Hurray I can see my adapter
Any command of those will work:
atiflash -ai 0 -scansii
atiflash -ai 0 -amtel
atiflash -ai 0 -sst

Example:
atiflash -ai -sst
Adapter 0 (BN=01, DN=00, PCIID=72C1102, SSID=E190174B )

ASIC Family : RV5XX
FLASH TYPE : SiI 1930
Firmware Version : 0.0
Firmware Variant : 0

All of them showing that my eeprom chip is SiI 1930
and core is RV5xx

I can also flash the card with -scansii -atmel -sst but they all result in write errors.

Any I've seen some options on atiflash called -ssireset -ssiuprog, anyone experienced with them?

Well the corruption is gone, just by it self with no flash at all. Probably after the card warmed up ( it wasn't used for couple days ).

Just in case I've performed suggested atiflash -p 0 -newbios orig.rom
to be sure that nothing left after 1950PRO.

Btw guys, anyone have idea now how to change the model of my card so it is detected as 1950 series ?

He's probably trying to resell the card. Trying to fool someone into thinking that they are buying a more powerful card.

That's not possible unless someone is really stupid because 1950xtx comes with a diff. cooler.

Wouldn't be the first time someone was fooled. Furthermore, I think its suspicious that a "Computer Shop Seller" according to his profile would want to flash a card with a bios of a different model. Notice how he gives no reason for his desire to commit fraud, he just keeps asking how to do it. Very shady.

lol. you are funny.

etherealtml nice thinking, but you're now even close to my reasons. This post was published on around 5 forums, and I'm tired of giving my reasons.

But if you're asking for it so much, then here it is:

Its about bet with friend of mine who said it is impossible to turn X1900XTX to anything else. He has X1950XTX :/
I've taken the challenge and its not even about bet any more but rather about finishing what I've already started.

And I'm not selling this card, I'll be rather buying new one and this one is going to my second rig.

And of course someone would be really stupid to by labelled X1900XTX as X1950XTX.

Moding done, its enough to use RaBit and edit Device ID: from 7249 to 7240 and changing Bios Description. Huh I won the bet :)
Thanks for all the help.

Well, you should just concede because it isn't going to happen. You can deceive someone into thinking you have an x1950xtx by calling it such, but at the end of the day, its still physically an x1900xtx. It's kind of like if I were to put my picture on your identification card. The name says "you" but the face says "me". Doesn't change who I really am though. Although, I could probably use your credit cards.

Why not devote your time to something more useful, like trying to transmute lead into gold? On second thought, stay away from the lead.

Why don't you spend the time more useful way and stop flaming here, do your business and leave mine. Especially that you've not brought anything useful to this thread.

Amen. The only person not being a dbag in this thread is the op...

What was the nature of the bet :D

Your card is still an X1900XTX with an X1900XTX performance even though it is detected as an X1950XTX. You could softmod your card into a FireGL card and the performance of the card is professional applications would at least doubled not to mention that you'll win the bet fairly :D

The bet was not about getting higher score or equal performance as X1950XTX it was only about possibility of moding the bios so that the card is seen as X1950XTX. My friend was stating that it is impossible because those cards have different core. My ration was that only memory is different. Can't wait until Tuesday when I get to work and prove it :)
