I'm getting ready to tear down my rig this weekend and do an Intel upgrade, and of course would service and clean my loop in the process. I've been running Pentosin in there for 6+ months and have had no issues (still clear, temps good, blue is my favorite color ;) ).

I have a bottle of the HydrX, and was thinking about giving it a go. I guess, just for a bit of a change. I have a Storm block, and of course Swiftech recommends using their product...hehe.

Any advantage/preference from the more experienced water guys? Or, is it pretty much 6 of one half dozen of the other?

The only problem that I've had with HydrX was that it always discolored my tubing. I've used Clearflex and Tygon and my tubes always turned milky white for some reason. The fluid in the MicroRes was green and fine, but tubes got discolored. Now I use Danger Den MCT5, and no more tube discoloring at all, tubes stay clear and I can see the fluid fine.

Well 2 cents, and thats about all its worth, you know the Pentosin does not cause a problem so to my thinking its all about how willing you are to tear it down again in a month if the other stuff did happen to give you an issue.

i use clearflex with HydrX and I haven't had any issues with tube discoloration

Both are good products

You can splice hairs and argue why x is slightly better for y reason, but in reality it's not going to make a difference.

The real question is what color do you like, or what do you have sitting around.

I'm using HydrX right now and haven't had any issues.

I haven't tried Pentosin so I can't offer a comparison, and I use UV Green Primoflex so I can't really comment on discoloration, but I've been using HydrX for a long time now and have never had an issue.

My 4 systems are evenly split between Pentosin and HydrX. Performance is equal with both additives (in my non-scientific testing) and I have not had any issues with either staining the Tygon tubing I use. As others have said it really just comes down to do you want to look at blue or green fluid in your loop.
