jedi outcast was so good... i remember playing it on my 9700 pro..

now i play it on my 8800gtx, cuz i love that game..

do people still play it? no.. im stuck with bots in multiplayer now :(

and ranari, you tried playing doom3 on a ti4200? rofl..

be it worked out realllllllll well:p

What was awesome was MOHAA on a GeForce2 MX, 1024x768, maxed-out settings. Especially the D-Day level...damn, that was an exciting game. Of course, it's been copied to crap nowadays...

And the last level of MOHAA, with the sniping in the forest, was a real SOB to graphics cards. I could run the rest of the game at maximum settings but had to turn them all the way down for the forest level...

Since we are reminiscing, Deus Ex on a Voodoo 5 5500 in Glide was the greatest. I've played through that game so many times I can't even begin to count.

3dfx, we will never forget. RIP.

Rofl, it was so ridiculously slow playing Doom3. I could run it at 640x480 and 800x600, but the framerate was about the same, and it didn't play all that well. It did look pretty good though. The truth is, however, is that I didn't play it for very long with the Ti4200. I only played it for a couple of days during that hurricane that hit Florida back in 2004 or 2005 (I can't remember). I ended up buying an Nvidia 6800GT, and all was well. The 6800GT allowed me to go through the game at max settings at super fluid framerates. It was so hawd-koh at the time.

I still use the 6800GT. It lets me play the games I want, although not all of them particularly well, like FEAR. I mostly play WoW though these days, which it's very strong in, so I'm still playing the wait game until I upgrade. I will probably upgrade for BioShock though.

I killed my Ti 4600 with a well aimed glass of coke :(

Today that would be like killing a 8800GTX

I remember being able to play UT2003 at 1280x1024 with all settings maxed with that card. Oh, it was glorious.

I still have 2 Ti4200's running
A Visiontek 128mb in a 1.2ghz Tualatin and a PNY Ti4200 in a P3-850.
Both run like new.
I replaced the fan in the Visiontek and my son uses the Tually for UT99 , MOHAA and web surfing when he comes over
My daughter has my old MSI gf2 gts pro 64mb.
Those Ti's were very versatile.
I would never sell them.:)

I've got you all beat. :)

I played Unreal Tournament: GOTY on Intel 810 integrated graphics! :p And liked it!!

hell yeah...i remember downloading the demo for ut2003......back then those were some fancy grfx. and the ti4200 handled them surprisingly well.

I loved my Ti4400... worked great until BF2 said I needed a newer card to run it :(

love my gainward ti4200 golden sample...128mb what was it 3.3ns ram...that thing overclocked to near ti4600 speeds no problem 310core and 460 memory or something like that....was a great card, untill bf2 came along and ruined it all

had same card, same experience

Damn those were the days. Now its like pfft I play (insert game of the month) @ 1900x1200.... on my LAPTOP! :D

LOL, yeah - things are different now. I actually started playing some old games again just because I miss those days. Classic Unreal, yeaaaahhaaawww!

My ti4600 was the first major computer splurge I ever bought. It was my freshman year and I remember it was hands down the best card on the market at that time. I remember the pride I took in telling people my system specs. That card is still in a static bag under my desk. <3

I remember when my brother in law got a Gateway PC with a 128MB Ti 4200 in it. Me and my 64MB GF2 MX were so jealous. A few weeks later I took $300 of my tax return and got a 9700 Pro and turned the tables.

Those were the days...

I remember when i went to Recon 2000 back in 01 in VA the Geforce 3 just came out and a few guys there had them. Man despite having my Geforce 2 GTS I picked up one asap. Also picked up a tbird 1.2ghz with the Asus A7M board and some crucial pc2100ddr. Man those were the days!

Heh, I just bought one off of the FS forums to use in a PC for my little brother. It ended up being a 64MB version, but hopefully it can run Guild Wars and Warhammer 40k at playable levels with an Athlon XP 2000+ and 896MB of RAM :).

I have a Ti 4400 in another PC that ran HL2 pretty well at 1024x768 with a P4 2.53Ghz and 512MB PC2100.

On a side note, are there any integrated graphics these days that can match or surpass the power/quality of a Geforce 4 Ti 4200?

I've been out of the IGP loop for a while, but I've had the feeling that an older dedicated card like a Geforce 4 Ti or a Radeon 9500/9600 would still be much better than any current integrated solution.

I remember the first time I loaded that up, man the menu was cool then you started out and the water was awesome, then the sky OMFG. Sigh...

Not to hijack the thread but the only game thats had similar imapct on me recently is Project Offset... that thing looks incredible! Crazy that its taken like 10 years to make another leap like that.

Great card, My yougest (7 years old) uses one in his P4 3.06 rig to play His Basball 2006

I did the exact same thing before I bought my GeForce2 MX, ha ha. Intel 810 integrated graphics was actually quite competent; I could run at default settings, either 800x600 or 640x480 on a 1GHz Pentium III. Good times.

Wait - mavalpha, is that you? Ha ha, I put the GeForce4 Ti 4200 you sold me in a 500MHz Pentium III machine someone lent me and benchmarked Quake 3 with it. I also compared it with a GeForce3 Ti 500 that someone threw out and I scavenged a few months ago (w00t!). Both cards got 42.5 frames per second on the demo "four" from the lowest settings to 1600x1200 maximum settings, ha ha, so it was obviously bottlenecked by the terrible CPU.

500MHz Pentium III FTW! Oh, yeah - the "Chameleon" GeForce3 demo was AWESOME.

I too ran UT99 on i810. Then I got a GF 2 MX, hated it, and got a Voodoo 4 4500. After that it was on to the V5. Does anyone besides me have fond memories of Voodoo gaming? I used my Voodoo 5 until late 2002 early 2003 when I got a GeForce 3 Ti200. I refused to use NVIDIA because of what they did to 3dfx for the longest time. I tried ATI, but their drivers were worse than using 2-3 year old 3dfx driver sets modified and mix-matched. I actually ran UT2k3 @ 1024x768 medium details at 30+ fps on that sucker with one of my custom driver sets. Great times they were.I wish pc gaming was still as much as it was then.

Fist aftermarket card I had ever bought was a ATi 9600 SE, was dissapointed and got a 9800 Pro. I was in love with my 9800 Pro until I got into nVidia. :p

The ti4200 was the first video card I installed on my own. Had some great memories with that thing.

still got my Ti4200 128mb 8xAGP video card running in my secondary comp. was awesome card for many years.. i upgraded my comp the summer of '05 for BF2, w/ a 7800GTX. huge upgrade. was really nice.

I liked mine until I forced it to play Oblivion with that pixel shader hack.... I think I got about 5fps at my then current native res of 16x12

That's one series of card that I never killed. In fact, I still have one in a old workstation. It's got a ghetto mod hsf because the old one was too loud. I can't believe it's still running.

I played FarCry on my fx5200..Ultra. :p A friend had a 4200 at the time, I think. I was jealous.

I liked mine until I tried playing Doom3 on it.

I loved mine until Doom 3 caused it to overheat and kill itself with artifacts. it was a BFG with a stock overclock and some wierdo cooler. they RMA'd it for me no problem though, and I got back an 5900xt!
