Just bought one today at Best Buy as it was on sale for $1150 and with a 10% off coupon, it brought the total down to $1035 ($1120 with tax in Texas). Not a bad deal considering it is $1300 everywhere else. If you can't pick it up locally, you can buy it on Best Buy's website for $1170 with free shipping.

Hmm... Newegg sometimes has these for $999 on one day sales. (but you do have to pay shipping... I'd personally rather pick it up :D) Nice find.

Even nicer find on that coupon though!

Newegg only has the monitor version (at least at the moment). This one comes with a QAM tuner and many more inputs (4 HDMI for example).

Though, unless you luck out at a particular store's manager, the coupons are good off the regular price, not off a sale price.

It's pretty easy to trick Best Buy employees. ;)

I may just bite the hook here. I returned my 37" to Costco ($799 deal) because it had some nasty smudge under the glass substrate... it looked like a dead pixel but it was grayish.

AVS Forums seem to be favorable on the 42 and 47. Im considering buying one or the other..leaning toward the 47 at the moment. Figure plan to go expensive, then worst thing that happens is you pick up the smaller and cheaper one.

Got the 37 from Costco, it doesn't have any problems that I've really noticed. Didn't hunt for messed up pixels at all really. But decided I'd really like to have the tuner built into the TV and the 42 is only like 100-150 bucks more if I manage to get the 10% off as well.

I've seen mention on avs about a 12% coupon coming up this Friday on the tv, but that doesn't necessarily mean the online price will still be what it is now....so might be picking one up tomorrow and seeing about price matching later.

Anyone have any idea what the pricing is on their service plans for a 4 year agreement on the set? Or if anyone has had any luck haggling on the service price? IE getting it into a lower price bracket plan, etc.

Well, my 30 days isn't up yet, think I can get a price match with the coupon on my 42"?

Wouldn't mind $100 back.

I believe I've read elsewhere that they have some sort of 90 day price guarantee on televisions...and from what I've read. Almost sounds like the online guys might be easier to deal with than the in-store guys for getting price matches (assuming you purchased online).

I believe the service plan costs $150 on the 42" one.

meh i don't think this would fit on my jerker ;)

the 37" fits just fine, only had to raise the shelf level. There's plenty of room for the 42" going side to side, you just raise the shelf to whatever height you need.

Although I'm not sure how the 42" would work as a moniter. The 37" is already a bit overwhelming.:D

eh, get what you want.. i personally own the 37 inch, but its in my living room. I will be picking up a 47 inch in the comings weeks to replace it and put the 37 inch in my bedroom. I did use it as a computer monitor before, but i decided that it had better use as a tv for my apartment. After playing some wii the other night I realized i need something bigger for my living room.

Had zero luck getting the 10% movers coupon applied to the westinghouse at two BB locations I tried in my area. Might head down to the third (and last) tomorrow since it's next to Compusa (want to get the z-10 and maybe the g5 during the 3-day sale). I don't expect to get the coupon applied...

Last ditch effort at this point from me will be to just order it online to one of the locations and try to get the 10% off from the customer service desk. Really is discouragingly difficult/annoying to see people getting the 10% off while I can't after spending a couple hours driving around today talking to employees (never did talk to a manager directly as the employee would usually walk off and come back and say no).

Although in terms of comparing the westinghouse to what I saw on display at the same locations...westinghouse looked just as good as the others for what was shown on the screen across them all. So, not really feeling too shaky on the "does it look as good as brand X" factor.

I bought one today.......raincheck....arrrgh.....It will be in next Tuesday. The store manager even let me use the 10% coupon. I added the 4 year warranty for $149 and with tax I was out the door for $1267.

Threaten him in some way? All the ones I went to, lots of lookers didn't see too many buyers. Lot of people moving out of area to find work. Figured they'd want to sell some inventory, was shocked when two places said no.

Guess I need to learn the trick.

When I worked at Circuit City the easiest trick to getting the 10% off was to state that you wanted to get the protection plan. Protection Plans are 30 day refund items (in most locations) so you do that to get the discount then come back a day or two later and get the protection plan refunded.

We would have people come in for a few thousand dollars worth of stuff (home theater and TV-type stuff) and they'd have the protection plan put on everything then start negotiating like 25% off of cables/accessories to drop their price. Then they'd come back 2-3 days later and we'd refund 1/4 of their money back to their credit card when they want to cancel all of their protection plans.

"Learning the trick" isn't difficult--having enough money to pull it off can be sometimes. :) People will also buy lots of accessories to try and drop the price on the one item they really want, then return the accessories (like a universal remote, or blank media, even a VCR/DVD player could be an accessory, depending on your purchase.) The only thing it costs you is time.

Oh, my quick $0.02: A Best Buy store near me had the Westinghouse 42" 1080P as an open box item for $899, and the 47" 1080P as an open box item for $1199. *SHRUG* They were listed on the tag as "Clearance" items, not sure why though.

It works. 3' viewing distance and you are golden. This set is the shit for flight and driving sims. A cockpit view ends up being very close to life size.

Sigh, I'll post this one last time in the hopes that it will help someone.

If you want them to accept your coupon do the following:

Tell them you want to purchase the tv, the service plan, a dvd player, the service plan on the dvd player, a wall mount and a $80 HDMI cable for the dvd player. Explain to them that you will only be purchasing this stuff if you can use this 10% off coupon on the tv and if you can't you will go to Circuit City and use a Circuit City 10% off coupon.

Let them huddle up in a circle like wagons do when the Indians were coming.

When they come back they will say no problem. Normally you will check out back there and make your purchase. At that point you have the TV you want, at the price you want. And you have at least 14days to return anything else you don't want, including the service plans, the $80 hdmi cable, etc.

Easy as pie, and I have always made my returns to a different best buy. Don't want them getting wind of what I'm doing!

Enjoy! :D

ok yeah i can see flight sims working on the 42 or 47, but i meant everyday computer used. the 37 is the sweet spot for me, but hey, whatever works:D

Hmmm... this is a really good tv.

Is it just me or did it lose a DVI input and gain a VGA input instead?

Can anyone confirm full 1920x1080 operations in windows XP (watching videos, playing 1920x1080 games) using VGA on this tv?

If everything checks out, this monster would be a true upgrade from the LV42W2s.

The LVM has 1 VGA, 2 DVI, and 1 HDMI. The TX has 1 VGA and 4 HDMI (plus the tuner). I'm pretty sure the VGA supports 1080P, but I haven't actually tested it as I'm setup DVI->DVI.

I have mine hooked up VGA to VGA and it says it's 1080P and BF 2 looks great on this thing so far just getting it setup now.

Now I'll i need is a game the supports 1900x1080...........

Thanks for the tip. Went in and got the Westinghouse 42" along with a $99 HDMI cable, $80 power center, $299 HD-DVD player and the 4 year extended warranty. They let me use the coupon. The overpriced stuff will be going back soon.

Didnt work for me unfortunately. They would apply it to anything but the TV if I bought a lot of other stuff. Pisses me off, so just gonna buy a 47 tomorrow and quit screwing with it. Prolly be the last 100+ item I buy from BB for a long long time at this point.

I have been playing BF 2 all night and I love this thing lol and yes it is BIG, but nice to play BF 2 on, you can see for miles with the Sniper Rifle :D

Pulled the trigger on this one today.

Called up BB to see if they had it in stock, they did. So i grabbed a friend and went over. Just asked for the tv, wheeled it out for me, got to the register and gave the kid the 10% coupon. He put it right in. Got the TV, 4 year service plan, new component cables, and component cables for my wii for $1300.

Haven't been able to hook it up yet though, hopefully this week.

I just bought one, they took my coupon without any question. Out the door with a 149 warranty for 1267.00. The clarity of the LCD over my old 1080i mitsu projection is jaw dropping. Now I just need to get a 1080p receiver. Big thanks to the OP for bringing this one up!

Bought the 47". Only could get the web price. Bought it today in fact. Didn't look as good as the 37" I bought it to replace (and return the 37" sometime this week). After I turned it off, screen wouldn't come back up with any sort of correct picture. It kept having huge streaks of white blotches throughout the picture until finally after turning it off and on and unplugging it. It's now almost completely white all the time. According to AVS this is a problem others have had, so I gotta say running into it my first day after having no luck with a semi-decent price is really pissing me off.

Picked this beauty up today, took the coupon no questions asked when I handed it to the guy and asked if it was accepted. Very pleased with it, the picture is great and the text from the computer is much sharper than I expected.

yeah no kidding. I'm typing this on my 42" now and the text window is like the size of a postage stamp on this thing, lol. It's crisp and clear... amazing. I looked over time color/brightness calibration charts and isn't as accurate as my BenQ according to them ,but seat of your pants it looks a lot better (?). Very pleased... what REALLY pisses me off is there is no PIP even though the remote has a button... that really sucks because I really liked my mitsu where I could watch TV and have my desktop in a small window.

Nicey niceness.

I think I'm gonna jump on this. No PIP sucks (On the avs forums it says PIP option is in menu but doesn't work. With a USB port for firmware upgrades I hope that'll get fixed soon)

I believe the deal ended today :(
shows as 1299 now. I wanted one of these too, that's what I get for being indecisive.

Guys! It's on sale for $1099 this week! Apply coupon for super deal!
