Ordered one today using my employers EPP discount.

2GHz (4MB cache)
2GB Ram
Black, LED Screen
and of course the video card.

With the other little extras, and the 3 year warranty it ran me about 1900. Ship date says August 5th, I'm hoping it is sooner than that. I will post pics and a mini review when I get it.

(Yes I know I could have saved about 50$ by ordering memory upgrade separately...but I didn't care enough to take the hassle)
 
That sounds like my ideal config, were I to order. Looking forward to it - be sure to post in the general notebook picture thread.
 
Congrats, but for 2k I am sorry that machine is way to much money for what you get, IMO. Be prepared to wait, as this notebook has a huge delay atm.
 
hm, i am interested in this notebook too. i wouldn't get any of the extras really though b/c I just want it to use for school (not games or anything). What made you choose this one?
 
I chose this one for the combination of style, form factor, power, and price. I dare Vengeance to find me a laptop as powerful as this, in the same form factor for less money. Then he can say it is too much money for what I get. (No 90 day or 1 year warranty either please)

Looking forward to your review. I've been interested in M1330 since it first came out and can't seem to find anyone that has one or any reviews. I have a friend with the M1220 and I thought it was just to small but the longer I lug my 5150 to class the more appealing a smaller laptop sounds.

That was exactly my reason for getting this. I am tired of lugging around my thick old 15.4" laptop to class everyday. I don't need a DTR, because I have a desktop! I want something portable with a decent amount of power for the odd occasion when I want to do some light gaming.
 
Ok wow, I feel like a complete moron :(

The ship date isn't until SEPTEMBER 5th. That really sucks, 7-8 week delay right now on the m1330. I knew they were popular...but DAMN Dell, you should at least mention it will be 2 months before you get the thing somewhere *BEFORE* people plop down 1900$.
 
yeah, sounds like you just didn't notice it. that was one thing i liked about dell though was that it actually tells you the estimated ship date before you order. of course, that's also the reason i didn't buy this laptop. no way was i waiting that long.

still what i got won't ship until the 2nd week of august :mad:
 
Yeah but that's estimated, as in they don't know what the hell they're doing and just threw out a number ;)

Then again it says he's in India, but i dunno..

He's in the US and has pretty much the same specs as above
Another guy is in the boxing stage

I'm pretty sure the m1330's are starting to ship next week

I talked to Dell today (mainly to discuss why the charge disappeared from my online bank statement). The rep told me that my laptop was in the Testing phase right now and should be shipping out shortly. I expect about another week or so until it ships, so it seems like the wait time is around abouts 3-4 weeks (+shipping) instead of the horrid 8 weeks they are estimating.
 
I ordered mine on the 19th and has estimated ship date is 8/20, ya I hope they ship early because I need it starting 22nd. I want some time to play around with it a lil :)

I also got it because I want a semi powerful laptop in a sleek small formfactor. I'm really expecting a lot from it.
 
I'm torn between the M1330 or going with something like a D420 or maybe even an M1210 from the Dell Outlet because the M1330 is a little more notebook than I really need. Anyway, does Dell charge you when you order it or when it ships? With the long delay, if there's a sale or price reduction, will they give you the lower price?

Well what happened to me, is they supposedly put a hold on the account when you make the order. That hold for me disappeared from my account completely about a week later. When I talked to the rep they said they don't actually charge the account until the order ships. Not sure about any price matching though.

I was just reading the threads over at a notebook forum yesterday and saw how long the wait for this model had become. I was at Dell site just day before looking at configurations for m1330 and not a word about the length of wait. The Apple MacBookPros are also behind because of the LED backlit displays (not as far behind as Dell's though).
 
dell corporate has said that they will ramp up production 10-14 days from now
we're already seeing a trickle of m1330's getting to people at notebookreview.com
 
I'm pretty tempted to pick one up. It's a good thing I don't have the money for it. School has them at 1499 with a great config.
 
Well, my laptop has shipped today, yay!

I didn't get any fancy pants shipping so I will be lucky to get it by the end of the week. Being ever the pessimist I don't expect it until Monday or Tuesday.

It seems right now that the only laptops shipping are ones with a black cover (like mine). None of the white or red systems have moved to shipping yet.
