I was having all kinda problems earlier this week and I've gotten them resolved. My new problems are...
1. I get the overclock failed everytime i reboot if my ai tuner or whatever it's called is set to manual.

2. I can't get the driver for the intel raid off the factory dvd to install during windows setup. I also tried downloading the latest driver on the net to no avail.

I am almost to the point of RMAing this piece of crap and either getting a Gigabyte or waiting til the X38s come out. NO ONE EVER BUY THIS BOARD!

THIS BOARD SUCKS ARRHGHHGHGHG NO ONE BUY IT I HAD PROBLEMS SO YOU WILL TOO DAMNIT

was that a post mocking me or did you really have problems with it?

and fyi, i'm not the only freakin person having problems with it.

This thread, is such a flaming ball of sh!t.

Anyway, It appears the ASUS p5k board has Sata issues, dont think they have resolved it with bios updates yet, tough you might just try.

bios is updated. didn't try beta release but the latest official release is installed.

was anyone out there able to get windows setup to recognize the raid drivers on a floppy?

AI Tuner...that's the Asus's window overclock program right? Just uninstall it and use the bios to do your overclocking. As for your raid problem, I think Asus is still having problems with that.

"crosses fingers" man I must be lucky or something, but I have had the board for almost 3 months now when it first came out and could not be more happy with it. I hope the problems get squared away for you man.

Same here, I bought this board when it first came out and I have had no problems. Majority of the time when the board dies or have problems, it's due to human error.

with regards to hard drives, XP and RAID.

I had issues when I first got this board, when I recognised that the install would crash while trying to find my usb devices ( i knew this as the light on my mouse comes on when that has happened).

So, to fix it, i did the following:

1) disable all USB
2) connect ps2 keyboard
3) install

this way i managed to install XP.

4) enable USB

following this, i installed the intel inf update (without a mouse!), rebooted, and then things worked very well.

this was with the original bios (i think 0302).

try this, should really work.

Yes this board sucks.
I've had raid 5 issues galore. Overclock failed posts when the board was not even over clocked. Chip set over heating issues with both the Intel retail heat sink and an a Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme. I've tried the every BIOS from the 311 to 501. Used Intel reference drivers. Their support replies to me in Spanish when my complaint was typed in English. I'll prob go with a good P38 board from MSI or Biostar when it comes out. Never again will i use an ASUS board.

Yeh I'll give 0501 a try. I've just always been scared to try beta releases. I really don't think it has anything to do with my usb. It loads usb fine in windows setup.

Does anyone think that the problem could be that the raid floppy has to be made on the actual motherboard that its being used in? I'm gonna try and make the floppy in dos mode on the puter i'm building. I previously tried making the disk on another pc in windows. Who knows, that may work...

well thats my experience. if you get desperate enough you might try it. I tried for about 4 hours before i just thought - sod it, ill do it different.

I got lucky with this P5W. I didn't have any of the issues others did with the board. But it won't be a chance I take again.

I wanted a P5K at first, but with the issues reported, that sound pretty unpleasant....I'll pass and wait for an official Intel X38 chipset board, and toss a quad at the P5W in the meantime.

ASUS

Don't blame the guy. The P5K deluxe is a very crappy board.

People everywhere are complaining about SATA / Bios flashing issues and asus' response is a BRAND NEW BOARD called P5K Premium.

I think asus should recall all the defective P5K deluxe boards and replace them with the Premium ones.

I think Asus is just playing smart!

Well, it seems I've finally got everything working. I made a mistake so stupid that I'm not even gonna tell anyone what I did. :)

NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo

I put up with that bullshit on the DS3- ended up selling it.
Someone tell me this is fixed in a bios patch

Oh and I heard it's to do with USB devices, never tested since I sold it though.
USB keyboard / dos support causes DS3 boot bug (rumour?) - wonder if the P5K has the same problem./

Also SATA issues, only raid or normal use?

Everyone makes simple mistakes.I have built up over a bakers dozen of these with various core2's with zero issues on any of the builds I have done.Half were quad core builds, all oc'd,all the quad builds had 4 gigs of ram.I have never seen a board deal with
ram as well as this board.especially when mixing differing brands of ram,and or speeds of ram, while oc'd.

The P35 Express has a very robust memory controller.

Please tell us, so we don't end up making the same mistakes.

Ok, but it has nothing to do with any setting. The problem i was having is that the xp installation wasn't finding my RAID driver. Earlier on in the week, I plugged the floppy in the correct way and for some reason my it seemed to not work, no light or anything. I flipped the floppy signal cable over on the floppy end and it seemed to be working so I was like hmmmm that's odd. Now I'm trying to install the XP RAID driver and it couldn't find it. After I had tried everything else, I decided to try flipping the cable over and voila, perfect.

I was having problems with this mobo and my Crucial 10th Anniversaries then I got some TeamXtreme and they work fine. So I decided to try both of em together and now I have 4gb woohoo. Dunno why the Annis didn't work by themselves but they work as a pair with my Teams. I love this motherboard now. It is more stable than my A8N SLI Premium of old by far.

Perhaps you should go back to the top and edit your first post and take out that last sentance, so that google seaches etc. no longer find the really nasty bits. Seems only fair.
