I've been thinking about trying a controller for the pc. The two I hear about the most are the logitec rumble and the xbox 360. Which of these two (or a third) would you recommend. Note that I am only considering the wired version not the wireless verison.
I.e, is this a good controller:

Want to try the controller before going as far as trying the console itself.

I have both and really like both.. The 360 controller is just a bit better imho..
One of these days I will buy a racing wheel for my pc and probably never use either one again, since all I use them for is racing games..

Out of the two you listed I only have the 360 controller, but I like it a lot. Works great.

Ive used both. The Logitech I never owned, but a friend did so I played with it a lot.

Love the 360. There are a few things like no control panel (unless you use 3rd party drivers), but I'd go over that one any time.
Best controller Ive had to be honest.

I'm still using some Playstation 2 controller adapter that I bought a while ago.

Thanks folks. Guess I'll give the xbox 360 controller a try :) This is mostly for games that prefer a/b button and similar (like prince of persia time of sand) - you know the ports that are done poorly.

I use old ps and ps2 controllers going through usb. They work great and I had So many lying around the house. Like 6 of them and it's fun for multi games.

I'd recommend my controller. A Logitech Rumblepad 2 Vibration. Well built and solid, easy to use & good value. Works a treat with TR - Anniversary.

I own both the 360 pad and the Rumblepad 2 (both wired versions), and I believe that the 360 pad is the way to go. The ergonomics are far better (I'm not sure why I ever bought the Rumblepad considering it's clearly designed after the PS2 controller, and I hate those), and the game support is also far better (almost all the new titles ship with a profile already made for the 360 pad). The shoulder sliding triggers feel great, and should work as a decent substitute as gas/break for people who don't have a wheel for driving games.

Anyway, moral of the story is that the 360 pad is the way to go.

For racing games, I use a Logitech Wingman with rumble support. Works great its just that not all games ship pre-configured so I have to manually configure the controller which sometimes is sort of annoying..

I only used the 360 controller on the 360, but I think if I did use a controller for any pc games, I'd want to use that one.
