I'm only going back to my 8088.

Onboard CGA graphics in my 8088. For you youngins out there CGA = 4 colors. Ahhh memories....
Upgraded the 8088 to either VGA or SVGA ISA card. Can't remember for sure and I didn't know anything about computers yet.
Next up was the onboard video in my Packard Hell 486 (Hey, my parents were still buying them!).
Then a Packard Hell Pentium 75. Again, whatever it came with onboard.
Added a Diamond Monster II Voodoo card to it. Dunno how much memory.

Now we reach the point when I started to understand what all those funny numbers and letters meant.
Gateway P2-350 w/onboard 8MB Riva 128
P2-350 @ 466 w/ATI Rage 128, then Rage Fury MAXX, returned that and got a GeForce 256.
P3-550 @ 590 w/GeForce 256, then GeForce DDR
The GeForce DDR went on to live in a Celeron 466 @ 580, then an Athlon 800 @ 920.
Athlon 1200 @ 1400 w/GeForce 2 Pro. 64MB, I think?
Various T-Birds with my Ti4200
Barton 2500 with a 6600GT
Next was a 7800GTX that lived with an A64 3200, then an X2 3800+

Currently got an 8800GTS 640MB with my E6420.

3D Rage Pro =/> Riva TNT =/> Voodoo 3 2000 =/> GeForce 3 Ti200 =/> Radeon 9600 Mobile =/> Radeon 9800 Pro =/> GeForce 8800GTX

The 8800GTX isn't mine yet, but that's what I'm going to be getting for my new build, I think. Yeah, I got my mileage out of a few of those cards.

Visiontek Geforce 2 MX200 > Mad Dog Geforce 4 Ti4200 > Connect 3D X700 Pro > Asus Geforce 6600 > HIS X1650 XT iSilence II

It's weird really. I got the Ti4200 and X700 Pro in a pretty short period of time. I wasted money switching quickly because I was just learning how to build a computer. I thought I would keep my machine with the X700 Pro but I moved and sold it. I ended up getting the Geforce 6600 in a motherboard bundle but I knew it was temporary. Now, it's in my backup machine.

The X1650 XT is certainly the most powerful thing I've experienced. But, it's passively cooled too which I really like. :)

Starting with my Am386DX-40 (my Windows 95 beta box)
Cirrus Logic GD05420 1 MB

Then I migrated to a Pentium-166 MMX in 1997 (and started a string of ATI-based primary graphics cards): Generic ATI 3D Rage (whitebox at that)-> Built By ATI original All-In-Wonder-> All-In-Wonder Pro-> All-In-Wonder 128->All-In-Wonder Radeon (this particular odd duck was the AIW Radeon 7200 S2 with the faster memory of the non-AIW version)-> AIW 8500DV (the last AIW to be factory-clocked slower than the non-AIW counterpart; this card currently serves as a spare)-> AIW 9700 Pro (which has been finally retired after one replacement under warranty and nearly five years of combined hard service)-> ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512 MB DDR2. Amazingly, except for the AIW 9700 Pro that failed (and was replaced under warranty), not one of my string of ATI cards failed for any reason, and, except for the 8500DV (which I mentioned is currently serving as a spare), all left me in perfect working order!

Integrated Dell Graphics < FX5200 < X1800XT < 8800GTS < X1800XT < 8800GTS

Thats how it went for me.

Matrox Mellenium II < Canpus Riva TNT 16mb < Asus 6800 Geforce 32mb < Geforce II < Asus 4600Ti geforce4 < eVga 6800GT < and now eVga 8800 GTS.

Out of the cards I have owned, the 6800GT was the best. (at the time) All the games I played ran great at deceint resolutions, even with AA. No major driver issuse.

Now that I upgraded to a 8800 there seems to be so many issuse with the drivers. I dislike the new control panel - and it crashes every time I try to change a the quality settings for UT2004.

I almost wish I picked up a AMD 2900 XT.

I started a bit late in the game....

Geforce2 64MB
Radeon 9000 128MB
Geforce3 Ti200 128MB
Radeon 9600XT 256

Geforce 7900GTX
Added a second 7900GTX for SLi
And now finally my lovely 8800GTS 640

EDIT - there was a pre-Riva TNT card in there as well in a machine that I got as a handmedown, but I cant be bothered to dig out that old box to find out what it was.

2d random card ----> intel i810 ----> Geforce 3 ti 200 deluxe (so i had those badass goggles that plugged into the :D ) ----> Geforce 7800 GTX 512mb

I can't remember any of my video cards from the old days in my 286/386/486/k6-2/cyrix/k6-3 days except a diamond stealth and a voodoo 2 sli setup. I mostly played mud, so didn't have many graphics cards then. Only really played commander keen, wolfenstein 3d, doom, and duke nukem the originals/3d that actually had any graphics at all.

But I got out of computers ever since my thunderbird setup.

Just built mine again May 15th or so, and thus far looks like this:

XFX 7900GS>EVGA 7900GT SLI>8800GTS 320MB

So far so Good....

First off on my old Amiga
AGA Chipset --> BlizzardVision Permidia 2 (with a special25mhz mini pci attachment to the Blizzard PowerPC/68040 25mhz accelerator card)

Horrendous waste of money, I think the only games I ever played that used it where the PPC Quake port, and Wipeout 2 and I think it cost more in 2001 than a 8800 Ultra costs now.

Then I got a PC and it was:
Voodoo 3 2000 --> Gigabyte Geforce 2MX --> MSI Geforce 4200Ti --> MSI Geforce 5700 Ultra --> Gigabyte Geforce 7800GTX --> Gigabyte Geforce 7800GTX SLi --> EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS 640

Yeah, all NVidia except the first one, it's not that I'm a fan-boi, it's just that up to the 5700 I wasn't that technical and went for 'better the devil you know' (and the boxes looked good) then the 7800/8800 when I did some proper research where the best cards at the time I was looking.

Integrated GeForce 6100 > ZOGIS GeForce 7100 GS

Although if you count the family computer it would be more like this:

Voodoo 3(I think) > Integrated Geforce 6100 > ZOGIS GeForce 7100 GS

yeah im a whore for Geforce 6 series hardware :D not counting any integrated stuff im at 8 GF6 series cards purchased by me

Radeon 9600XT (Hanging around)

Next is possibly 8800GTX OC next month.

Didn't start messing with computers until a couple of years ago, so mine has gone like this:

x300se > x600pro > 6800gt > 7950gt

The ATI cards were/are in a Dell that is my family's computer, while the other two were/are in my personal build. I'd like to put my now retired 6800gt into the Dell so my sisters can really play The Sims hardcore, but I'm afraid the little baby 300w psu won't handle it.
