Was the P5N-E SLI a bad choice?

At the time when I was building my computer it seemed great. It was capable of being upgraded to a Quad Core and seemed generally a decent board.

Well, after reading around here longer and longer I noticed that next to no one has one :(

Did I miss the boat on something about these motherboards? So far it seems decent. My E6600 runs stable up to 2.8ghz - after that there are occassional crashes, but I think thats because I have a stock heatsink on.

Comments anyone?

I had the board.
And let me tell you,
high end PCs SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCASIONAL CRASHES.

That is why I scrapped the board.
But I hit my E6300 up to 3430, but it wouldnt be stable, so I would drop it down, and then like, nothing above 3 would be stable.

Latest BIOs and everything.

Everytime it crashed, I added 10 bucks to the get a new motherboard fund.

I bought the Gigabyte P35-DQ6 for 300.
Not a good deal at all
But I <3 <3 <3 it. :)

And I hate the P5N-E SLI.

Well I am by no means saying my occassional crashes come from the motherboard. I actually have no idea what they are from. I don't have the greatest cooling system ever and my voltages prolly suck.

I'm at 12 minutes on 3ghz with the vcore at 1.362 or something...Its topping out in Orthos around 62 degrees

Buddy, I was at stock.
1866 MHz
E6300
266 * 7
1.325v
30c idle

Crashed during anything.

It was random too.

I am an anything-other-than-a-ASUS P5N-E-fanboy.
;)

Damn! That does suck

Sounds like I got a mobo from a better batch or something lol. At stock speeds my system never has any problems, its just when I'm overclocking. Generally speaking I have no clue what I'm doing anyways while overclocking too :D

Sorry for your P5N-E troubles...

I bought one in Jan/Feb of this year, with a Xeon 3060/Tuniq 120/2GB G.Skill 6400CL4D-2GBPK/ect/ect...

Upgraded the power supply from a Sunbeam Nuuo to a Corsair 620HX this month due to concerns with the exhaust temperatures and the Fuhjyyu caps found in the Nuuo. The Nuuo rails were stable, but the heat expelled from the rear fan was just more than I was comfortable with. Corsair much better in this regard...

Computer has run 24/7, oc to 3.4Ghz, problem free for ~6 months. 404 Bios, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm glad I purchased this board.

I love mine. It overclocks very well and I haven't had any issues with it. Plus it was CHEAP!

had mine for abt 2 months now first one died after 1 week but the 2nd one is very stable and overclockable on bios 0608. have to say tho it does run a bit toasty on the northbridge if u dont put some active coolin on it

anther happy owner here. although im ati guy yet i have an sli board owell.

Mine's been great, I've had my 6600 stable since i leveled it off at 3.5, haven't touched it since. I haven't had a BSOD once.

: ( . if mine died i would hate it. i like this board more than the ds3. how ever i have 1 question. how do you use Esata? the standard cord doesnt fit in there.

here are a couple more questions. where does the strap change start around. and are you using any software to overclock?

That and the fact that you have only the option to adjust the FSB and Memory speed. Why the hell can't you adjust the Bus Speed like normal
