Am I going to have a hard time fitting 3/8" ID Masterkleer onto these? Are there conversion kits available to make them 3/8"?

Good luck. You'll need boiling water and be tolerant towards thumb bruises from having to force it over an opening that is 5/8". It was slightly difficult to get 1/2" tubing on it as is. 7/16" was sheer pain to get over it and much cussing was involved even with boiling water and a set of pliers. I tried 3/8" for giggles after one member lamented about how hard it was. I gave up after 15 minutes with bruised thumbs.

I've used 7/16" 3 times on mine, and I've never had that hard of a time getting it on.

Boiling water works fine. A cup of water in the microwave for 2 minutes, and dip the end of the tube into the water for a few seconds to soften it up.

7/16 is not a big deal when used with hot/boiling water. However, don't even think about pulling it off later on.

The ol' Xacto knife or similar such item to slit the tubing is about the only way to get off when you decide to redo your layout.;)

I haven't ever tried, but I think it should be possible with some boiling water and hard work. A little bit of gun oil (or similiar lubricant) on the barbs probably wouldn't hurt anything, either.

whoa, whoa, I wouldn't put any kind of contaminant on the barbs that could get into my loop. Just my .02.

Glad you got the 3/8" tubes on. It may not be easy, but it's nice being that much more resistant to leaks!

Does anyone know if there is a replacement top made for this pump like the DDC's?

I've seen one and it was by Polar Flo and was machined from aluminum and anodized. Very rare and very expensive.

The pump was around $150 when they were still making them and are considered priceless by the people that have them, I wouldn't expect to find one for less than $200 now unless you find someone that has no clue of what they have.

Interesting that no one has made a plexi top for one yet. Sounds like an untapped market here for some enterprising individual. :D

Unfortunately Polar Flo used proprietary threads for their own fittings. So I think it might be good for something, but I don't know what. ;)

Hmmm... they looked like 1/4" NPS but that's pretty close to 9/16". Even so, it's new and comes with 1/2" or 3/8" barbs so you're pretty much set.

I never thought to put the tubing in boiling water.
I cussed up a storm, and hurt my thumbs trying to get 1/2" inch on, but I did. :)

It was a BITCH though.

Conversion Kit @ Performance

I bought my pump from frozencpu and it came with a half conversion already installed.

From inlet to reservoir, I'm staying with 1/2" ID to avoid starving it.

1/2" or 7/16" ID tubing onto outlet, 1/2" OD to 3/8" OD adapter barb into that tubing, and then the thinner tubing into the 3/8" end of the adapter barb.

Except I hate hose barbs. Push-fits or maybe compression fittings. :)

Hate them? In the pharmaceutical industry, push-loks and compression fittings are common for air. You won't find them in use in solution lines because they are not "cleanable". Barbs are.

Why would you need to clean them in a water cooling loop?

Hate is very subjective term. Everything has its place. It was just an example. Different types of fittings have their place.

But, no, I assume you would not need to clean them in a WC loop,,,;)

If that's your thinking why clean your loop? Just set that bad boy up and let it run forever.

My Exos ran for 4 years without cleaning it (added some new coolant once a year to account for evaporation). With my newer rig I intend to drain the unit and recharge it with new AC Fluid coolant once a year. I cleaned it very well before charging the system so I can't see any biological or chemical blooms taking place. So yes I do intend to not clean it. :D

I think what he's saying is: every time there is a flaw with whatever product, you magically happen to have the exact comparable Koolance/AC product that has never had such a problem and has been running perfectly for x number of years.

Let me condense what he's saying "I call shenanigans"

B&. Whatever reason you have for a disagreement should be added to your post... to prevent making yourself look like a total idiot.

I already took the liberty of reporting the guy you quoted as making a drive by flame to the mods.

In your case it is a little more complex because you have a long history of intolerance and flaming anything having to do with Koolance or Aqua Computer. So for you this is a common pattern of behavior.

Insofar as your post has absolutely ZERO to do with this thread I also took the liberty of reporting your flame and thread jack to the mods as well. I suggest that others who read this thread to do the same. :)

I found one retailer that has the TT kit for the pumps in stock O_O for a mere $56. I dunno how many they have though.

Does that TT kit fit the D5? Something reminds me that the D4 and D5 are somewhat similar or would the kit be amenable to fitting to a D5?

The D4 and the D5 are exactly the same, dimension wise. The D5 has the pot on the back of it so that you can adjust the speed and apparantly has some different internals, because it's quieter running at full tilt than my D4 was running at 7V.

Yup it sure does! I have 2 blue ones that havent leaked (yet), but the chromed steel mounting plate stresses a lot. I am afraid that it may snap over time.

I called Polarflo, I think in March sometime, and they said that they had a small stock in the basement of all of their PC watercooling stuff for several hundred ($700, if i recall) for sale. They didn't want to part it out
