Can i seal the Top of the Bong and have a hose go thru the wall into the bathroom or the balcony. So all the moisture goes out and not in my room? Would that work? Im thinking it would actually perform better...

i dont understand the question. are you trying to syphon out the water? what the hell are you talking about?

a bong cooling question? wtf...potheads should stay away from electonic parts for fear of bong water shorting things out....

Well my english is not that great... I want to seal the top of the PVC pipe and have a hose go from it(Top) thru the wall in to another room or outside. So the moisture goes outside my room.. Dont know how to explain it any better

I posted a reply in this thread... or was it your other thread that you opened by accident?

Eh, either way, I said "go for it" just make sure the tube you're using isn't cooler than the evaporated water... You don't want any condensation on the tube.

yeah i posted in the wrong forum.... just wanted a few more opinions before i go drilling holes in my walls :D

How humid is your climate? If you vented it outside with a plastic tube you could get great temperatures... provided it's dry out.

It doesn't matter what its like outside, the air he will be forcing through the bong cooler is inside air. He simply wants to baffle the exhaust air outside.

I say go for it, however I am worried that a hose, depending on length, might significantly reduce your airflow. Try blowing through a long straw, then cut it in half and blow again. There should be no problem with piping the air outside so long as you have enough air movement.

Use a hose of larger diameter than the bong cooler to keep the restriction to a minimum.

If those hose becomes too long, would adding slow turning 120mm (at like 5V) fans in the hose itself assist the evaporated air through the hose and out into the fresh air? Just a thought.

I am thinking the flexible hose they use for venting clothes dryers.

Oh and the whole personal computer industry was founded because we were too stoned and or hung over in the early 70's to run our slide rules so we invented the first pocket calculators.

Oh, right... Logic eludes me today :p

for some reason im seeing dryer vent hose in your future.. well regardless of what type you use i think you could get around the possible flow problems by running an extra fan at the exaust end of the hose just to keep things moving..

the only other thing you might look out for is what side of the house you put it on, if the wind hits the side of your house where the vent comes out, it could stall airflow, or even reverse it.. if your water level is high enought this would mean sending water back out your air intake (thought it should never really be that high, reverse pressure's can do wierd stuff)

To keep the wind being an issue he can put a cover over the exhaust (direct it downwards) that way wind would have to make two 90 degree bends to get in. I also think dryer hose is going to be the best bet for this task.

The way I ran mine for a while was through a dryer vent to the porch outside. I had a 12V supply and hooked up a ~150CFM fan to the end of the vent (outside, so not much noise, except that coming back through the vent). Bongs work VERY well .. as long as you keep them full :) Be prepared to clean that sucker out though, often.

Yes, you can vent the humid exhaust out of your room and to wherever you want.

Depending on how humid your room gets, it may indeed improve its performance.

What would really be nice with a bong cooler would be to somehow route the air thru a condenser and recyle the condensed water back into the bong as part of a closed loop system.

This would solve the the major disadvantage of a bong cooler (water evaporation), if possible/feasible.

At least it would be a "neat" mod to try...

Yea, the evaporation is the issue. Unless you could put a water-level sensor in the resirvoir hooked to a valve on a water supply to automatically keep it filled. Of course it would need some good filtration to eliminate the minerals/etc from the system. Hmm....thinking a tap like on my icemaker - salvage a sensor from an auto in the junkyard (washer fluid) - just gotta work out the valve setup.;)

it would probably be easyer to just use a float from a toilet when the water gets low, it will fill it in.. the trouble is, the res that the float sits in would have to be large enought to contain the float, and finding a way to mount it.. of course (but thats not that hard)

the trouble with this is the plumbing.. you would have to run water lines from a wet wall to where ever your PC is.. this is usually what keeps people from doing this part of the mod
