that would be my rig i think. i get lazy sometimes and my case is small. it used to be a beige case and i've grown fond of it for some stupid reason. maybe i just don't want to part with the $100 for a new case.

not bad eh? the case is a tad cramped for an sli system. opteron 165 and two 7900 gto's. the mobo is an asus a8n32-sli. had a little problem with the mobo overheating this weekend. those two gto's were dumping a lot of heat onto the southbridge and thanks to the heatpipe it was actually warming up the northbridge since it can't handle all that heat. so i came up with a ghetto solution.

i think that says it all...can't fit 120mm fans in there, case is too small:p yeah its got a bit of noise. i want to watercool one day. would you believe that fan behind the cards dropped my mobo temp by about 18ºC?? i was amazed.

theres my desk. its ghetto too, old table i got from god knows where. oh and thats my 4th samsung 226bw now. i keep getting frickin dead pixels! ah well thats future shop's problem now. i've now had all three panels, the S, C and that ones an A - which is surprisingly good from all the bad rap it gets. i can't tell the difference between it and the S.

don't ask me why i made this thread, i just felt like showing how little i care about the wiring lol. i think i'll get a modular psu next time.

The case itself doesn't look too bad. It definitely has some modding potential.

well, you may start with a bag of plastic tie usually costs less than 5 USD... which I did.
Main idea is to increase maximum air flow to cool the temp down, which will be followed by aesthetic looks... Try it, you will love it~

NickS - it started as a beige case when i got my athlon xp 1600+ back when. i got a window kit and tossed it in with a simple LED light bar. the case i got bored and sprayed with silver model paint (all i had lying around). i also had to put a clear coat on it to stop the cheap paint from coming off. the two USB ports on the front are also my own handywork since it didn't come with front ports. i had to take a spare usb cable and cut it for extending the wires. USB needs shielding!!

since then its got a lot of scratches. i'm hoping one day i can build an external watercooling setup. i might make a box for the rad, reservoir and pump out of wood or something and use quick disconnects. should clean things up nicely and lower the temps.

kuyaglen - OMFG! that is awesome! i bow to your ghetto skills! i've got most of my wires stuffed in the empty bays.

rybeck - WTF! thats blasphemy! i'm proud of my ghetto! loads of 80mm fans that scream FTW!

I have put fans in weird spots in my last case. Try using rubber bands to attach them and it will help. If you ever get a bigger case, use zip ties to clean it up as you build. It will amaze you in the end.

That is beautiful. *tear*.

ha theres an 8800 in there

WHERE?!?!

I think that case will haunt my dreams... It was almost as bad as when I opened my brothers Antec Sonata case and all the freakin wires met right in the middle of the case and went EVERYWHERE... after making my case so clean-looking I knew that would be a huge job... I think it was the bastard computer repair guy

What case is that? It looks like an Apevia X-gear

Hey, how did you get the SATA cables to coil like that?

missed your question... It was just done by hand.. Since SATA cable tends to bend easy and stay the way it has been bent. You can hide them, but I found myself this way was more fun~

look like your PC is bleeding! lol

Kind of like from Saving Private Ryan, the medic is standing over a guy who was just shot trying to repair him. That's what I think of when I see that picture... some poor soldiers intestines hanging out of him... your poor poor computer.

Do some of you guys just take ZERO pride in your work or what?

I have to make sure that all my drives, and parts have the proper amount of screws in them. All wires have to be out of the way as much as possible. The case needs to be complete. All my drives have to be in the case, the side panels on it and my PSU has to fit.

I read about a guy on one forum that bought a PC Power and Cooling 1Kw SR and a Stacker 830. Needless to say the PSU didn't fit but he didn't care. He just let the PSU hang out of the back of the case unsecured. So he spent $200+ on a case, $450+ on a PSU and of course he had fantastic components all around, and just left it like that. I was sickend to read that to say the least.

I also can't stand hack job case mods with twisted and torn metal, or badly drilled holes or anything like that.

Link please... I gotta read it.. I just got my silencer, and I love it (it will be organized for sure~). Since it didn't come with modular cables, it will take considerable amount of time to place (=hide) them well.

I agree with you dan...I hate it when I open a case (especially prebuilt ones) where the wires look like the have taken the "whatever gets there first" route.

My first build. disgusting cables but at least I could get the cover back on the thing...

I'll never use anything but modular ps from now on.

Dude, modular PSU's don't help as much as you might think. For fans, drives and everything else I end up using nearly every cable that can be attached to the modular PSU to get things done. BTW you have an excuse for bad cabling to a small degree if it's your first build. The art of cable oragami and cable routing takes along time to learn. Some cases are also much easier to hide wiring in than others.
