New Crysis info!!!!

DX10 or DX9, shit! If one mission takes more than 1 hour to complete, I'm in! Crysis, here I come baby! :D

LMAO on this part

A big part of the reason for that is that the AI has to understand that a fallen chunk of tree is cover. It has to deal with and exploit an environment that can dramatically change with every gunshot. When they first implemented this, Senior Game Designer Bernd Diemer discovered that he could grab a fallen tree and hold it in front of him to become completely invisible to the AI. This tactic is frowned upon in the real military as unsporting, so it had to be tactfully explained to the AI that a walking tree is deeply suspicious

I would love to see this in multiplayer:)

Squee!!! :D

"Yes, you can pick up, throw and even beat people with live chickens. You can pick up, throw and beat people with anything smaller than a car, and in this we include wheelbarrows, spades, tree trunks, grown men and even most of a car. At one point in our playtest we shot a man’s helmet off, caught it, beat him to the ground with it, shot him again and dropped it on his body."

Oh my god I can't wait for this game.

::::salivating:::::

Thanks for the 'at work boner' I just got. Haha

The more and more I read about this, the more interesting it gets. Unlike many others, I wasn't a big fan of FC, but this is amazing. Simply amazing.

Also, check out the captions on the screenies.

As well as incendiary dangers, earthquakes, tornadoes and landslides also present a hazard

Tornadoes? SHIT!

Stupid work internet... lets me see the first page then blocks the next one.... Grr.rrr

Well, I'm going to bed now... UK.

Gonna have some nice dreams tonight! :D

"Well, not quite max settings. Crysis actually has graphical features built in that no PC available this year will be able to make use of."

I wonder what settings they added in since it already looks amazing in the trailers. Man, I haven't gotten this excited for anything in years.

Looks like I'll be playing this game on ULTRA settings. suhweeet.

also thought the comment about the bananas was funny.

this game's gonna be awesome.

8800GTS + 2.4 C2D = ultra? Sounds good to me :D.. Let's hope they weren't talking about 800x600 resolution or something when they said that :).

The multiplayer server mods for this will be amazing. Imagine the stuff on Counter-Strike servers, but taken to ridiculous levels, such as a mini-tornado shooting attachment for a rifle.

Possibly some new diffusing variant for the shading on the trees, or maybe shaders in the forest areas. Man, this making me orgasm so hard I'm talking like a freakin' 13 year old who just saw that Sex Ed. video. :p

Okay, so I don't want to believe that the game really has all those features, implemented as well as they say.

But if it does... I officially haven't been this excited for a game in my entire life.
(Maybe when splinter cell was first coming out..)

What can the release date possibly be? They said the only thing they have left is to make chickens smarter.. and play test..

So what’s left for the developers to do on Crysis? Well, the chickens are too relaxed. Right now the chicken AI is simplistic, and when an earth-quaking explosion epidemic erupts around them, they seem improbably aloof. See that car? There’s probably a chicken waddling calmly across the road behind it. Personally we think they should keep this in - after the deafening bangs, scorching shockwaves, screams and gunshots, the sight of a unflustered hen sauntering around as the shells tinkle to the floor is rather soothing. And if you don’t feel that way, you can always pick it up and throw it into a fence.

Yes, you can pick up, throw and even beat people with live chickens. You can pick up, throw and beat people with anything smaller than a car, and in this we include wheelbarrows, spades, tree trunks, grown men and even most of a car. At one point in our playtest we shot a man’s helmet off, caught it, beat him to the ground with it, shot him again and dropped it on his body. Anything smaller than a tree can be held in your left hand while you fire with your right, even when you’re using an assault rifle or shotgun, so alternating between bonging people with a spade and shooting them in the face is seamless. They even encourage you to beat people when they’re down by introducing a chance that a fallen soldier will get back up if you don’t. This, again, is what a game should be about.

I'm soooo happy now.

This sounds great. Thanks for the link, OP.

I wasn't too excited about Crysis a while ago. I was anxious because it is a good demonstration of games reaching the point of diminishing returns, and I think hardware technology will begin to take a back seat to software technology, and more importantly art direction, but now that I hear everything the developers have worked out I am just anxious to play the game.

I originally getting get interested in Far Cry because I guess I didn't really know how to play the more open levels. I was still thinking in terms of paths, and linear progression. I have recently gone back to replay it, and I am loving it. I can't stand more than a few spurts. Maybe a single level, at most, but reaching a particular challenge in a level and experimenting with different ways to overcome it has become a genuine blast. Combine that design with Crysis' AI (better communication between enemy clusters) which allows you to play with the NPCs on a global scale, and more importantly, the Nanosuit and I can't wait.

To me, the nanosuit will probably be the most significant improvement. I see it facilitating a great many more enjoyable play styles than Far Cry could, and introduce a few which weren't originally possible. Mostly, I am anxious to play on a high difficulty like Far Cry, where I HAVE to think and be deliberate, BUT still feel like a complete bad ass that has the capability to dominate the opposition. Simple things like grabbing and throwing an AI which has strayed too close is enough to keep your killer instinct, without ruining your sense of mortality. Crysis went from "neat", to "MUST HAVE" in the matter of a few weeks. Anyone who wasn't originally interested in Far Cry I recommend giving it another try on the highest difficulty, and taking objects carefully. The "veni vidi, vici" concept is REALLY neat, but if you aren't keenly aware of what it means a game which relies upon it can be intimidating. Instead of rushing in to start shooting and simply trying to make effective cover, stop and look. If you see opposition, make a choice. Maybe it isn't very significant. So just flank and take them out quickly. Maybe it is an encampment. Instead. Find a better vantage point and more thoroughly survey the surrounding. Then repeat, veni vidi vici. Reach the vantage, look (think), and then act.

It can be very daunting, and I don't recommend continual play in this method because it can simply become too time consuming, but I don't know of any other shooters with such flexibility, and Crysis only seems to expand upon this, while keeping your abilities up to speed (nanosuit) so the scale doesn't get out of hand.

EDIT: The info isn't anything new. Nothing simple, anyway. It is just a preview, but a long one. Reposting isn't very feasible.

This game looks insane...

It's coming out this year? Correct? Guess I'll need a new CPU before it hits.

LMAO slowly moving treees, what  shoot em, dammit shoot em! :D

Heh heh. Unfortunately regarding multiplayer (given your quote) there won't be the advanced physics with online play. Its just too much information to sync. Simple physics for certain. Ragdoll was there, but except being able to pick up and throw barrels I am confident nothing will be dynamically destructable in multiplayer.

ughh I am going to have to upgrade my CPU arn't I? It's OC'd to 2.4 Ghz and handles every game out so far very well with Ultra settings. AM2 3800+ stock 2.0 Ghz 512kb L2 cache.

SCHWEETNESSS!!!111

I originally wasn't too fussed about Crysis but now its looking like it will be a crapload of fun =)

Has this been confirmed?

Man I can't wait for this game, but I'm probably going to end up playing it a bit after it's released when I go along with my planned upgrades.

Has this been confirmed?

Hmmm

Well look at R6V multiplayer on the 360 - it has been toned down by quite a bit, soo...

I don't really care about the MP graphics that much, it's aaaaaall about the SP! :D:D:D:D:D

Sorry for excessive smiles - it's the least that I can do to express how I feel about Crysis!!!

I'm ecstatic but then I remember what my computer is, and how long it'll be before I can build a shiny new one to even play this.

Then I have a girlfriend. :(

But I can hope! :D

My heart is racing just looking at these screenshots. I'm not joking. This is the kind of game that makes men neglect thier jobs and families!!!!!

well if they can pull off such a stunning visual game then lets all prey they can figure out a way to maintain the destructiveness throughout multiplayer because if they do then they would have set a new benchmark for online gaming in general!
