I have the Avermedia MCE A180. I'm tired of this turd of a card and its garbage tv software that locks up all the time.

Please recommend an HDTV OTA tuner card that has excellent tuning ability. I don't need SDTV capability. I don't need, but will take, an external. Price isn't a factor. I'm currently using Windows XP pro, but will be upgrading to Vista Ultimate in a couple of months.

I've been using the ati 650pro cards and I love them. I've got three running through snapstream with no problems on xp pro... vista I don't know.

The tuner product that I am currently enamored with is the HDHomerun:

2 HD Tuners in one box with one antenna connection and an ethernet connection on the back side. Simple, effective, and can be stashed away in the attic near the antenna and forgotten.

Additionally, if / when you decide to ditch MS software, it's highly supported by many of the other PVR apps out there.

Use better software with that A180.

Agreed. The Avermedia Software, especially in Vista is not that great, however, my A180 works in Vista MCE great.

I liked it so much, I actually when out and just bough the PCI-E Combo Analog/Digital Card for my HTPC so I can add my Auzentech Xplosion for DDL Encoding.

I won't be ditching MS. I did the Linux thing as an undergrad, but don't have the patience for it anymore.

Well, if software is the problem, which programs should I buy or download to allow me to watch TV on this computer until I get around to installing Vista?

I'm a fan of my Vbox 164e's dual ATSC tuners, but I use it with XP, and BeyondTV, so I can't vouch for it with other setups.
