I don't understand why the option is still there if it doesn't work. I am running Vista 64 Ult and an EVGA 8800 GTX and have yet to have working fan control in any driver release.

If it isn't going to work they should just remove the option.

use rivatuner 2.01, its works with vista, fan control included.

Yeah, I think it'll end up being scrapped at some point. It hasn't worked in about 2 months and roughly 5-6 driver releases.
Best advice - uninstall nTune and install RivaTuner instead. It'll do everything Ntune should do and a whole lot more.

ya, my only beef with riva tuner is vistas UAC. which isnt really riva tuners fault. everytime I start up vista with UAC enabled I have to click the icon in the task bar to allow rivatuner to run or else your 8800 will run at stock speeds again. but thats a 5 second proccess.

i can get the "fixed" fan control to work, but i can't figure out how to set up "auto" with a new config. seems that's not yet supported - or am i doing something wrong?

Um...I'm at work, but there's an icon on the very first tab that takes you to "Fan Control." I just set it to 100% and checked the box to "run at startup."
No UAC for me. After answering "are you sure you want to do this?" for the 500th time when setting my machine up - I turned it off and haven't looked back. Mine's just a one-account personal machine though. For businesses and/or multi-account machines I can see it being nice, though.
