What games have you regretted buying?

Morrowind GOTY Edition...bought it thinking I'd love it...hardly touched it all, been sitting on my shelf for like, 2+ years

Think I'll sell it

sell it to me. i lost my copy a while back and wanted to get another one, but didnt feel like paying $20 for game i owned and lost.

Final Fantasy X-2. Just, I dunno why I bought it... I have no idea what was going through my mind at that moment.

Battlefield 2 Complete Collection. Not that I hate BF2, I got this for my son, and go to install and EA's crappy new installer only lets you install to the C: drive, which a) I don't install games to and b) doesnt have enough room.

Who the heck hardcodes install directories anymore? I haven't seen this since the DOS days. So now I get to install Partition Magic to make room for it.

Another reason for me to hate EA.

i have BF2 installed on D:, in the past i installed many EA games on D

You must choose custom setup and not the typical, thats the only way to choose the install path.

I regretted buying all Need For Speed game starting from Hot Pursuit 2, to Carbon.

Plain crap. Simple as that.

High Stakes, Porches, original Hot Pursuit, all were great though.
For some reason, when I think of needing speed, porches don't exactly spring to mind. :D

About 80% of the games I own, MMORPGs especially, they suck up so much time and money but gives back very little when you stop playing.

^^ agreed! I am starting to think the time I spend playing LotRO can be used more wisely.. granted it's a fun game.. but god it's taking up so much time.. which is very precious to me.. preeeeecious.

the matrix : path of neo... GAH! by far the shittiest console port to pc evAR!

Well who the hell wants to use all their time wisely? Wisely doesn't equate to being more enjoyable.

well, that's subjective.. wisely to me means possible might enjoy doing something else more.. like maybe getting more sleep so I am not crabby in the mornings. lol.

Supreme Commander.

It's a good game, but not great, and between all the crashing, compatibility issues, and missing features that really are must-haves, it's just not worth the $50. I still play my nearly 10 year-old copy of StarCraft more often

I'm leaning towards Supreme Commander as well. I dunno what it is...I was a huge fan of Total Annihilation and I pretty much thought it'd be impossible for me to not like Supreme Commander. It was supposed to be TA on steroids. But, theres something about SC that puts me off. It just feels colder, less visceral, and less interesting than TA. I cant really place it. I loved the way tanks climbed up hills and over and around terrain, and all the little details in the units' animations in TA. In SC I spend most of my time zoomed out looking at blips on the screen to keep track of everything. Just very impersonal. Maybe there's such thing as a game being TOO big... I spend waaaay more time playing Dark Crusade. Which I totally do NOT regret buying whatsoever.

I agree with that as well. You have to spend practically all of your time base-building and managing your factories and upgrades while simultaneously issuing patrol routes to your various units. You never really get to actually stop and appreciate the battles close-up, and even if you do, the command response is so sluggish that it doesn't feel like you're really in control of anything. "Impersonal" sums the game up perfectly.

That god awful Final Fantasy MMORPG!! I have owned and played every Final Fantasy game to date (even the ole Game Boy versions) Final Fantasy was not meant to be a MMORPG. So sad :(

Zelda Twilight Princess for Wii. I found out I hate RPGs and that I get lost in large dungeons.

Thank you Capt. Obvious, DUH ;)

This is something new and special for the "Complete Collection" installer, as I have installed the regular BF2 dics on other drives. The custom setup option in it just lets you choose which booster packs to install (which after reading forums is a whole different set of problems after seeing all the activation complaints). EA's effort to streamline the install process they went a bit too far.

EA's activation crap is crap. I think about slitting my wrists everytime I have to load the Armored Fury and Eurowhatever the hell it's called disks.

Title says it all! No matter what mouse sensitivity you set in the game, you cannot get predictable and precise mouse action. On the low side of the scale you feel like you're swimming in molasses, and at the high side its too jerky. In between, you'll not find any satisfaction either. The absolute worse mouse action I've ever encountered! This makes the game even more frustrating when playing online!

deus ex 2 I even played all the way through and I didnt even like it. Otherwise other than my young nintendo days I enjoyed all my purchases.

What is it with all the people addicted to WoW? I like the game and all, but I just can't see how you could get that into it. Like I know we are probably raiding tonight... and I know they will be annoyed if I am not on to tank it, but I can bet you I will end up hanging out with friends instead. It has its uses but how you don't get burnt out playing all the time is beyond me.

Anyway, games I regret buying? IL-2 Sturmovik. Even bought some stupidly overpriced joystick to go with it. Was planning on getting back into flight sims with it... yeah I think I played it once or twice. By the time it got done loading that stupid intro of the plane flying (really, was that needed?) I was already bored.

Anachronox, looked like a great game, had good reviews. I don't think I ever made it more than 20 minutes into that game. Just couldn't get into it.

Halo 2, huge waste of money. Friends tried to get me into it. Felt like the original Unreal (which was a good game, I just don't feel like replaying it years later) with vehicles and console controls.

Final Fantasy XI. No thanks on trying to speak Japanese while dying to bumble bees and taking forever and a day to level. Oh and having to kneel to restore mana? What is that about?

I could go on forever. I have so many games that I never really played. If I could have all that money back.... :(

I regretted getting Giants: Citizen Kabuto, which I didn't exactly buy... it came with a Sound Blaster. Oh, and Sacrifice. I think it's by the same developer. Talk about frustration.

Turok - sigh. What was I thinking?
Quake 3 & 4 - much disappointment after Q1 & 2.
Doom 3 - ditto Q3 & 4
EQ2, AC2, SWG, DaoC, HORIZONS(!@!!!!!@#$!), Vanguard, LotRO, WoW - The only MMO I've ever really like, looking back on it, was EQ1. I think that as partially because there was nothing like it before then. All the ones I've tried since then haven't lived up to it. And even EQ1 sucked once PoP was released.
Most Need For Speed, not to include Hot Pursuit
Any of the few RTS I've tried (I've come to the conclusion that me + rts = not gonna happen)

Man I've wasted a lot of money on games.

QFT!

The biggest waste of money I've purchased from a game store was XIII (Thirteen) for 5 bucks. It was literally a virus.

I hated that Giants game.

Why does playing a game that is very much not an RPG make you realize you hate RPGs?

How do you get lost when you have a map that shows where you've been?

Republic, I picked it up for $5 and I though, hell why not? After 15mins I uninstalled it and left it in the drawer as a reminder of my past mistakes.

BFV, BF2, Oblivion.

Heck, I won't even buy BF2142 because of how much BF2 annoyed me. Nothing like nerfing down stuff to keep it fair is there?

I would have loved BF2 if...and I mean IF they would have left gameplay like that in the early DC mods (like DC v.25) which was actually fun.

Oblivion...just stupid, graphics were ok but the game is stupid, there is no way I will ever even desire to finish it.

World Series of Poker 07 - Buggiest game ever. No mouse cursor, once you go to a sub menu, you cant go back out. Graphics are shit. Oh ya, this is after the patch...

Gothic 3 : I just cant seem to get into it at all. Wanky controls, sub-par interface...

Battlefield 2. It's a buggy mess of a game that I spent more time fixing bugs than actually playing. At one time, I was scared to buy anything for my computer because I was afraid it would not start up. Oddly enough, after not playing it for around a year, I played it the other day, and got a crash-to-desktop. >.> I loved BF1942 and DC though. Sad :-\

oblivion's graphics are only ok??? im curious what you consider great or amazing. i can understand why some people would not like the gameplay, it certainly isnt for everyone, but the graphics are some of the best ive ever seen, especially when you add some retexture and improved outdoor effects mods.

I haven't played Oblivion. But, I know Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is very nice with a PhysX card.
