I've been searching for a desk, and the first place I looked was for the Ikea Jerker. Discontinued? Dammit!

Okay, so I went to Staples and nothing even close to what I need.

I basically want a deep desk with adjustable or low height, L or not-an-L desk, for it needs to hold:

A huge CRT monitor
Mouse and Keyboard, I hate the drawers for them I can't stand any of them
Huge speakers, think the biggest monitors you've ever seen

The jerker was perfect for it was deep enough, adjustable height, and had those expansion shelves for the speakers

Can anyone help me out here? I live in New Jersey and I'll keep going to stores but I was wondering if anyone knew a site or a product that can help me out in my time of need!

thanks a lot, -Mike

I found some Jerkers on craigslist.

Does anyone have anything to say about doing business on craigslist? Is there a particularly large risk of fraud or dishonest sale?

Im in the same boat as you..also wanted a Jerker..went to Ikea...found they were discontinued. Saw something close to it..called the Fredrick...its close..but still not a Jerker..

Ill keep searching..

As far as craigslist..I have no problems with dealings on there..as long as they are within your City/Area..not many people are gonna ship a desk across the country..rather heavy.
and if your not in thier area.

Yeah I found 2 guys selling Jerkers one about 45 minutes away and one around 1 hour away. I sent one an email and I'll see how this goes.

Just a few years ago I thought desks were all easy to find and anything would work, namely because right on Ikea's website was the Jerker and all my friends had nice desks, and Office Max and Staples had nice workstations. Apparently not anymore.

You have 10 grand to spend? Lantec has just the thing for you..

Quite awesome but weeks later and I still have no desk.

I need help here I'm seriously thinking about just going to home depot and getting a surface like 34" deep, 60" wide but then what would I do about legs? And how hard would it be to accomplish this? Because I seriously need a desk and the Jerker is the perfect option for me but I can't find one. Does anyone know if an Ikea store might still have it in stock?

Alright I went to Ikea today and purchased a Mikael desk and it works fine.

So I'll let this thread die now....forever and ever.

I bought my Dell 3007WFP 30" LCD for $900 from a guy on craigslist. I also routinely get stuff like Ski Lift tickets, sports equipment, cars and even a lawnmower. One thing that is pretty consistent for me is that if the person will let you drive over to their house and pay in cash, then the transaction is probably legit. On the other hand, if they display any aversion to meeting in person, or at some strange location, you might want to avoid them.

I got my desk from IKEA and love it. It is height-adjustable, in an L-configuration. For your CRT, I would recommend a screw-on keyboard tray to get you a little further back. You can get them with a mouse area as well.
