Alright, now i have decided that i am definitely going for some sennheisers. Initially, it was going to be the HD555's, but that may not be possible because of financial issues so i decided to go for some cheaper ones. Now i play plenty of counterstrike 1.6 and sound positioning is very important to me as is clean bass. I will mainly use these for counterstrike and the occasional music. So i have compiled a list and i am not sure which set i should go for. Any help is appreciated!

Out of what you listed i have owned a pair of HD465's and can say i hated them they are uncomfortable and sound bad i ended up returning them and getting a pair of HD485's which are far better i did play games with them and they sounded good and the positioning sounded spot on.

The 485's may not be on your list but it gets my vote they are great headphones and alot of people around here have had experience with them and will agree they are probably the best out there in the price range.

hm, for the price of the hd485's i would go for the hd280pro's. now if the headphones that i listed are not worth getting, then i will just save up for the hd555's.

Frankly, I don't think anyone ever recommends the Sennheisers that you have on your list. This is coming from previous foruming experience. The HD515, out of those, is very occasionally mentioned though.

HD280, HD485, HD497, HD555, HD95, HD580, HD600, HD650, seem to be the ones to look at.

To each his own but just curious is there a reason you wouldnt consider the 485's? They basically are the upgraded version of the 465's very similar.

Either way just dont get the 465's and you should be happy they are flat where they go on your ears as in your ears dont go in them it sits on top of your ears making it horribly uncomfortable.

You need to go balanced with 650s. Should be around, oh I don't know, $3,000.00 or so entry level.

Seriously, be patient and get some 555s or 595s. You can get used headphones cheap on head-fi and ebay too.

TRUST ME I have been all over the headphone highway and know all the best diners.

because they cost more than the hd280pro's and at that price, i might as well go all out for the 555's

i guess the decision has been made, its gonna be the 555's. if not, then the 280's :)

Get the HD280pros they are the best for gaming.

I've tried some of their other pairs but keep going back to the 280's.

IMO, the HD280s are not very comfortable and their headband design is a piece of junk. In fact, the only headphones where I've seen equally bad design are Bose and (noname) Jwin headphones that my friend used to have. I'd recommend the HD6xx design (which I think the HD5xx emulates, any day.

dude the 555s and 595s especially are way better than the 280s. sorry but the 595s are not bass monsters but you sure hear the bad guys.

I have to vouch for the 280s since I'm a proud owner. It isolates well and I'm quite satisfied with them as far as comfort, durability and quality go because I have a normal sized head (i imagine you must have a freakishly monstrous, hideous, deformed, and elephant man head to stretch these cans enough for them to crack). Nothing is better than having the headphones on, enabling x-fi virtual 5.1 audio, and playing your favorite game while the reality of your mom getting the shit slapped out of her by your dad is lost in the immersion.

I didn't mean that they cracked -- I just meant that compared to other headphones that I've owned and that other people own, the HD280 falls far short. My hand is larger than average, but freakishly monstrous, hideous, deformed, and elephant man? Not at all. I think the arc on the HD280 headband is too low, and is crummy feeling plastic. Oh well, that's my opinion. Obviously, you can't expect the best of the best when you're paying $100, but you get what I mean?

I've had the 280 pros and currently the 555. The 5's are pricier but OH SO WORTH IT!!!

Save the $ and get the 5's. Of course if you need noise canceling the 280's aren't bad. Just don't sound as good.

As above hold out till you can get some 555's. The most comfy headphones i have had the pleasure of using. A friend has the 555's and I personaly own the 212s. I am very jealous of my mates 555's. :D

Go 555's

balanced 650's definately do not cost $3k... you can get HE-60's for less than that...

anyhow, all those on that list are pretty crappy... the 205's are just nicer versions of the 201's btw... which for $20~$25 are a good pair of lan-party headphones... aka... closed and no biggie if you loose them...

though ive never listened to the 555's i would have to say that the hd285's are bassy...its a clean bass but it still kinda overpowers the highs and mids

You can find the HD-555's for like $80 at various online retailers, i'd definitely pick up a pair, mine lasted me for 4 years til I upgraded to the HD-650's

Are there any places that have the HD555 that ship to Canada? TigerDirect.ca has it for $199 CAD + shipping. Headphones.com has it for ~$162 CAD with shipping.
