Ugh. "No Operating System Found".

I've gotten a few of these in my days but hopefully there will be a solution with this one. I was working on a co-worker's laptop and installing XP security updates. One of them froze, Windows went to BSOD, and rebooted. After POST, I received the "No Operating System Found" message. Advice?
 
Hmm, that scenario lets me think that windows lost the partition info.

Might be time for a reformat..or a windows repair might help..
 
I got that on my wife's PC recently. She shut down without letting an update fully finish. I did a repair install, then re-applied the updates.
 
I'm guessing that I'd need the original copy of XP to repair this one, huh.
 
Yep, you'd want one, and should always have one around in case of events like this.
 
If only coworkers would know not to throw it all away.
I guess this will teach her, heh.
