Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Depends on a lot of things. What use? TV or monitor? If monitor, from how far? Are those prices from the same store? Did you check their ratings on ResellerRatings.com?

For $1280 I would pick the 42" any day. It's a good price. But that is just me, with my needs and uses for a monitor---dunno about you. :)

About 75% monitor and 25% 720p or higher TV. Distance could be whatever.

Prices were from two equally reputable online stores. Think 9.5+ on resellerratings (Newegg-ish).

Yeah it was a good price on the 42" but I'd rather spend significantly less money. Also the 42" would cost even MORE to ship back to Westinghouse if there is a problem.

After owning this monitor for nearly 5 months, its backlight started buzzing today. It's especially bad on backlight settings 0, 1, 3, and 4. Is there any way I can fix this?

got mine about a week ago and i must say..it is amazing!!!!!!!

OMG. This is one of the best, if not the best, pics I've seen so far of the westy. WOW. Specially that panoramic picture(first one). Also, I like how everything is so organized. Loving the red and black theme in the bedroom also.
Let me tell you men, good job. I congratulate you.:) 10/10

BTW, is that really 37"? cuz somehow looks...HUGE!

edit: replaced images by links. My bad MakubexGB.

You kidding me? That wide angle is sweet. (off-topic: what camera/lens did you use? or is it a collage of two or more pics?)

Beautiful setup. I also like the colors. :)

Got mine in yesterday from Sam's Club -

It replaced a Dell 30" I sold with my system -

I no longer have any doubts - the contrast and brightness and size combine to easily make up for the lesser resolution -

I should have gotten this thing a year ago -

This is the monitor to have for pc gaming - it is truly amazing

I think it's sheer stupidity of Westinghouse not to include a 37" in the new line, considering it's the best selling size.. 42" is just too damn large to be used as a PC monitor, unless you are using a freakishly deep desk. I bet by the time I get the dough saved up, the 37" will be completely gone. :(

I wouldn't say they're going to let the 37" die. They are probably evaluating how to release it. i.e. reduce inputs, leave it as a Monitor and launch it as a an equivilent of a LVM-37W4, Make a TX-37.

Another RMA Update.........:)

Newegg warehouse finally located my Westy and rapidly went through their RMA process, my new Westy has shipped and I should get it on Tuesday, hopefully things are better this time around.

Hopefully make a TX-37 and replace it around the same price point, so I can snag one for under $1000. :D

i dont know if you noticed yet, but your 360 is sporting the red ring of doom. Hopefully that's a purposefully done mod.

Was it necessary to quote a large picture again that is right above your post already?

Yep, it's on purpose. I figured by including the working 360 on the picture in picture people would know that it was a mod. 3RL error is easy to fix btw, I did it to my cousin's console by replacing the heatsink screws the other day.

thanx for the compliments..im not sure what camera it was..it was my roommates. as far as the panaramic shot its two pics blended together!!

God I hate the handshake problem on the PS3 with this monitor. The HDMI to DVI cable didnt fix it. oh wells

did you try the unplug and re-plug the HDMI side while the units are both on trick?

edit: woooooooo.. 100 pages on this thread coming up in ~60 posts.. :D

I'd venture to guess looking at the Revised MSRPs for the TX line it'd drop @~$1199 or $1099 MSRP. I'll ask around if CMO has made any new 37" panels...That is unless someone here knows anythng and can chime in. CMO's Website is about as up to date and accurate as Westy's. :p

s00pcan, how does the westy's picture look/feel with your 7900GS? what PC games do you play if any? how good do they look?

I just got my westy in. The box seemed fairly dinged up. I've got it plugged in now and there is a wierd shaking to text when I'm typing or mousing over things. The mouse pointer shakes and I think the picture looks interlaced. Also there is a fairly high amount of mouse pointer latency.

I have the 37W3 hooked up VIA DVI to my PC.
Help?

Edit: Ok I found the 1080p Option in the Nvidia Drivers. That cleaned up all my previous problems. Though the mouse does seem a bit latent. Not near as much as it did in 1080i though.

Also. What monitor settings are you using reguarding Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Backlight, etc. I know it was some where back in these 200 pages but I can't remember where.

are there any calibration threads for ATI cards?

im using a xfx 7900GS and i was quite impressed with how it is still playing games on this monster... i prolly average bout 65-80 fps in css with max settings, fear still runs smooth with almost everything maxed.. bf2142 is maxed and looks great... u shouldnt have any problems with that card

yea you think eab? i am overclocking my X1950XT...seems like the 7900GS is comparable to that, if not, the X1950XT has an edge...so it's theoretically possible to run games decently with my card huh?

interesting...i heard so before but i had some doubts...maybe a new westy is in my future after all...

Got my Westy in yesterday! Man is this sucker hugeee! Firmware ver. 1.8 with no dead pixels! I'm in love! I'm going to go pick up my HD cable box on monday so i'll be able to report on how the SD/HD TV stuff looks. But for now my computer and 360 are lovin' this new display! Okay now back to my games.

I would love to look back through ALL these pages for settings but I don't have that much patience. Any quick cheats for settings with the 360 over VGA with the new spring update would be awesome. and DVI with computer would be nice too.. Thanks so much!

I tried to use the current 12% off Best Buy Reward Zone member deal on the 37W2, which was already on sale, but it didn't work. In the meantime though, I was given what I think is a pretty good deal. A BB employee offered a 6 month old display model 37W2 to me at regular price, but with a $300 BB gift card included. This would allow me to buy the 4 year warranty at $120, then find some way to sell the rest (even if it means walking up to random customers who are buying expensive products and simply asking them to use the gift card in exchange for cash... maybe I could offer $10 extra or something as an incentive >_> I don't know...). Looking at it that way, it would cost me only $700 (tax included) for all of it. I'll try to get them to discount the price instead, but even if they don't... I don't know... I mean... if the TV ends up breaking down within the 4 year warranty period, it should be very easy to exchange it for a brand new, unopened set anyway, so the 6 months of use shouldn't be much of an issue (I think). And if I get the TV new from Best Buy, it'll cost me $880 without a warranty. Do you think this is a good deal? The only issues I could think of is that they apparently don't have a stand, and I don't know exactly how well the TV was treated while it was on display... Still though, I would have the warranty... I'll ask if they could try to get a stand for it, but if they don't, is there any way to get a replacement stand from Westinghouse, or maybe some kind of 3rd party stand?

I wouldnt buy a display television.. I have never heard anything good happening when doing that.. I did it once and it sucked. Never again!

Uh... so you'd buy a TV that doesn't show a picture?
Jokes aside, if you mean you wouldn't buy an LCD for TV-only use... I might agree...

Still working on getting some better pictures...hope these work at least for now. I'm getting my cable box tomorrow so I'll try to post some pictures when I get some TV shots.

Before I got it in it's final spot, aka right out of the box.

It is the 37", look at the sticker at the upper-right corner of the tv.
And about the cable box, I believe he refers to the box they give you with your cable company. For example, the box DirecTv gives.
