All of those pics are from a few days ago, now compare to some of the older shots

Didn't GT4 do something where screenshots taken in-game were of much higher quality than the actual game itself? Could be that's what we're seeing here, too.

Thing is... I've seen videos (not promo) of this game running and it looks so much better than those screenshots. So I'm really not sure what's going on.

the graphics dont look at good as Gran Turismo IMO. I used to play the first Forza on xbox and thought the graphics sucked compated to GT4. Thoughthats just graphics im talking about, I loved the first Forza due to the damage and online play.

Even the "nice" screenshots don't look as good as GT:HD...

The in-game ones look even worse...

Just be happy 360 owners that you are getting your racing sim probably a year before the PS3 owners get GT5...

Meh... I'm still really looking forward to the game, and I'll hold my final judgement until I can see some official HD video, of the final product, or actual screenshots that haven't had major compression, after being captured by a 3rd party site, which appears to be the case with these screens. The official developer screenshots could be enhanced in their own little way as well, so we'll see. Regardless we have seen a lot of screenshots of the replay mode, as opposed to actual in-game racing shots, so some differences are bound to be noticable.

I Still can't wait for the game though.

Sigh..GTHD is one car on screen with no good physics or damage. I will say though that GT car models own Forza 's any day, that is the only thing they own Forza in.

I never played GTHD, and have only seen screenshots. I didn't realize it's just ONE car that you yourself are racing. I assume you just race to better your lap times, and face no opponents? I can see why it looks so good. Even the last full version of GT, if I'm not mistaken, featured less cars on the track, then the first Forza. I think Forza 2 is suppose to be locked at 60fps too, which will be nice.

Yeah, I read that. I just can't see it happening that quickly.

Every PS console has had 2 Gran Turismos for it... it doesn't seem like this gen should be any different and if they plan on doing it, it makes sense it would be released within 2 years of the console launch...

All the reports have said that GT5 is set to be released in 2008... now I guess it could be late 2008 and that would be more than a year... but I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Time Trial and Drift Trial is what GT:HD is made up of. Start off with crappy cars... beat the record time, unlock next car... and repeat process...

I think GT:HD looks really good for being an upgraded version of GT4... can't wait to see what GT5 is gonna look like...

Forza 2 does look good though...

The 4th part of the GT series was owned by the 1st of Forza, so I LOL at that statement.

IGN:
Game: Forza
Release Date: May 3, 2005
IGN Score: 9.5
Average Press Score: 9.1

Game: Gran Turismo 4
Release Date: February 22, 2005
IGN Score: 9.5
Average Press Score: 9.1

So Forza came out after GT4, on a system that came out after PS2 with much better hardware and it got the exact same score. Owned? I think not.

First, using IGN as a sole source for game quality is folly.

Here's the overall from Game Rankings (a source that compiles multiple reviews and averages them out):

Gran Turismo 4: 89.1
Forza Motorsport: 93.0

Both are very good games. Forza scored a little bit better. Those are the averages from around 115 reviews per game.

True, some of them are... Questionable, at best. I'll leave it at that.

My point is that both are great games. Who cares which one scored a little higher? I never played GT4 (stopped after 3... Just kinda got boring). I'm really looking forward to Forza 2 and if GT5 is good enough, it might just be enough to get me to drop $500+ on a PS3.

I think we're saying the same thing... :p

When did ign(lol) become the word on game reviews? GT is a great series, in fact it was my fav. until Forza came along and bent GT over and owned it.

Do you have problems with reading comprehension?

"Average Press Score" is tabulated from ~70 online and print gaming reviews.

I used IGN because they provide the launch date, their score, and the average press score.

I always felt that GT got such good reviews because it is GT not because it is that good a game. Kind of like Madden for football. (puts on flame retardant suit)

It's called the difference between reality and marketing BS. Every game does it, airbrush and touch up the screenshots, take ultra high res shots and shrink them down so they look better, its commonplace

Without doing too much research I remember last years Madden got pretty mediocre reviews.

According to IGN the average press review was 8.1, a full point lower than GT4 got.

imo the in game graphics sucked balls on forza, the only good thing was the damage models.
im firmly holding out for gt5 and the ps3

The gfx for Forza2 isnt all that great but im sure the gameplay will make up for it...hopefully. I guess it'll do until GT5 comes out. One other thing the picture of the 350z on the first page is ugggglyyyyy.

you do realize the pictures he linked to were taken from a camera and not direct game footage right? Find some videos and you'll see that Forza 2 looks just fine and regardless of what you GT faithful say, the truth is that Forza's physics are superior to GT's. We shall wait and see if GT5's are improved or not, but if they're not I could care less about the graphics.

p.s. Sounds are actually more important to me in a racing game than graphics as well.. and we all know GT's sound is terrible.

I haven't played GTHD but does it have skidmarks? I remember playing GT3 and wondering where my drift marks went.

I agree that the previous iterations of Forza have better physics than GT. They are on a console with superior hardware. That is to be expected.

Are you serious about the sounds though? Forza's sounds are horrible... GT is much better...

I think I must be the only person here that likes both games.

Forza is by far the better racing simulation.
GT is by far the better driving simulation.

Forza - Accurate.
GT - Pretty.

I've never thought Forza looked all that hot, to be honest. I know it's a driving game, but I really don't care about car models. Hell, they could have similar model to GT1 (Okay, I admit that's a bit too far) for all I care. I play driving games from the hood/bumper cam, and I fully intend to place first in the races, so I'd rather the enviroments looked fan-fucking-tastic, something which doesn't seem to be happening in Forza. : / Although the lighting seems to have gotten better.

Forza's wasn't very good no, but from the sound bites I've heard from Forza 2 they're improved tremendously.
