With very few exceptions, nVidia's reference-design GPU cooler has been used in 8800-series cards. Sparkle and EVGA each have one aftermarket design, and there is one BFG waterblock model I know of, but 80-90% of cards use the reference cooler, regardless of brand.

it's quite incredulous that this is a price error, price seems half-decent, and they refuse orders.

That sucks, but as veterans of the hotdeals forums know, pricing errors happen.

Like Peter said, at least here we have a rep personally address the issue.

What I would like to know is, how do these errors happen? Typo? Cruel joke? Or could it be much more devious than that....a ploy by the site to gain traffic?

In this case, there was an "instant rebate" (aka. instant discount) applied to this particular video card. The typo occurred when selecting the item # that was associated with that instant rebate. So the typo resulted in the instant rebate being applied to the wrong item, ie. this card. Hope this answers your question.

Once again, sorry for the mixup guys. :(
 
The Price didn't seem too far off from the Buy.com deal.... That mean buy.com was losing money on the sale then?
 
I think the buy.com was more expensive. Hopefully the clubit don't go the way of Monarch Computers. I bought once from ClubIT and had a good experience.

What I would like to know is...how is it possible for this to be wrong for 2 or 3 days?
 
Also we pay the highest gas prices.. Sucks a$$!
But like you said, the sites and sounds defiantly make it worth it!

I picked up one of these cards a week ago from buy.com and I am very satisfied. I believe PNY to be a solid manufacturer who has gotten consistently better over the years. The card kicks major ass and it also looks cool. I recommend this card to anyone who wants an upgrade.
 
oh well. the 640MB GTS might end up being the better upgrade after we see how the 2900 line up performs a few days from now.

They said I will be receiving r6 vegas, GRAW + 1gb flash drive with the order however!

Whats the best deal out there right now on a xfx or evga 8800gts 320mb? Or even just a no-name brand?

Glad you reminded me of that. I was going to order one tomorrow if I saw any good deals in the weekly egg email. Hopefully we'll get some price drops...but given the unofficial 2900xt numbers, who knows.
I'll just get everything BUT a vid card. Might suck having to use the old sli'd 6600gt's for a few days, but oh well.
 
Are we all talking about the ati r600 or the 8800 ultra that was announced today? I was referring to the ati 2900xt (r600)

The Ultra came out the same day as the r600 "paper launch" when the NDA's expired so it could spoil all the fun. The r600 hard release is on the 14th - trust me.
 
the 2900 XT better be around $400 cause I just cant bring myself to spend $500+ on a video card (8800 GTX) even though I can afford it. I might go for the 640mb GTS if the 2900 XT ends up costing too much.

There was a rumor it would paper launch on the 2nd or 4th, but the 14th at the latest. Either way I think you'll see some price drops within a week or two, if people can wait.
 
Yeah looks like the 14th now. Guess I'm going to have to wait til then. I'd hate to buy a 8800gts 320 today and see the 640mb for the same price in 11 days.
 
I just got a screaming new PC but I didn't get a video card for it yet.. looks like I am going to just wait a few more weeks!
 
Seriously Clubit has some craptacular turnaround.

It's been 5 days since order and they JUST shipped it yesterday. Probably won't be ordering from them again in the future.
