Let me begin with a little backinfo. My old computer had a creative audgy 2 zs platinum. I got the 7.1 T7700 Creative speakers to go with them, and everything worked fine.

Now, I got a new computer, preloaded with Vista Ultimate, and it has onboard Realtek HD audio which has 7.1 capabilities.

The only problem is that my plugs don't match up anymore:

Here are the cables coming out of my Creative Speakers:

Here are the jacks on the back of the Computer:

And the realtek properties page:

is there anything I can do to fix this? or will I have to throw the old creative card into this computer and ditch the onboard audio? (I don't want to do this..)

It's either the SB card or get a cable like this:

You can also try this, although I haven't tested it myself:

oh wow that makes a lot of sense! I didn't realize the cables I was using were like a proprietary set that combined multiple channels. the end that plugs into the subwoofer has like 5 audio plugs, and then turns into 3 plugs at the end that goes to the computer. all i need are a bunch of phono cable extensions :D

thanks for that info!
