Perplexing Intermittent Problem

I'm getting all sorts of random crashes with this setup, from 0x000000EA to 0x0000000A, NV4_Disp.dll. Seems to happen most often when I'm playing video, but not always. Here's the trouble, I can run memtest fine for 24 hours, no errors, I've been able to run 24 hours of orthos small, orthos blend and orthos large at the same time as rthdrbl, without any problems, then at other times it crashes after an hour or 8.

Tried the power supply with a multimeter, its rock solid under load, tried all sorts of different memory timings and cpu/fsb speeds, doesnt change anything.

I'd love to hear any suggestions

do you have a different video card to try with ? otherwise i dunno  lolim younger and am still learning.

its cool man, I appreciate you trying to help. I don't have another card to test it with though.

First thing I'd do is uninstall, reboot and reinstall the drivers incase there's a glitch on the section of hard drive they're on. Try also going back a version incase it's a glitch with the current drivers. Also reinstall DirectX because that's the other thing that links into your video driver.

Other than that, there's not a lot you can do, it's a driver issue and happens to just about all Nvidia systems every now and again (except my current one because it's an FX5200 :))

Microsoft recomends that you disable Hardware acceleration http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293078/en-us, but I think that'd have quite a big impact on frame rates.

Based on the NV4_Disp.dll error I would look into checking the graphics card more closely. Double check the temp reading in the Nvidia control panel and try torturing the graphics card with something like 3DMark to see if your problem lies there.
