OK, it's been out for weeks, but now i need to install some software badly and i can't. I don't know exactly when it disappeared, but i know for sure then it was before. I'm under Vista Ultimate 32bit. I have NEC 3540A.
I seem to remember people having problems with that drive in Vista. I also know firsthand, that if you load the JMicron drivers for your DS3 from WindowsUpdate, you'll loose your optical drives. This was under Xp, so I'm guessing the same could happen under Vista. Remove anything and everything related to the Gigabyte controller, and reboot.
