Around 2 bucks a song, and forced bundles = no thanks :(

Not surprised. I figured they would cost around that much. Not terribly high imo, but definitely not cheap.

All of those songs are from the first Guitar Hero. Where is the new stuff?

They said all the initial DLC will be from GH1. But wow, i wasnt expecting to be ripped off like this on the songs/price.

Guess ill just suck it up and buy them anyway :D

That pricing is bs... They said it would be around the price of other DLC but this is madness. To get all the GH1 songs that would cost ~100 then and how the hell do they justify that pricing? I was pumped about getting all the GH1 songs for around 50 to 60 about the same price as GH2 cost that would not be a problem but GH1 had 47 songs at 2 bucks a pop that's BS. grrrr........

$18 for extra content so soon after the game release is pretty weak. Granted they are going to have to pay royalties on the songs, the package price should be considerably lower. Hopefully sales are weak and the next packs are cheaper

Enjoy those prices....

I don't have the game, but at those prices I doubt I'd download them. I figured they'd be in packs, and not just one song per download, but 500 points is too high in my opinion.

If they come in a cheaper pack, I'll buy them, but I think I can hold off for now. I have a hard enough time just trying to 5 star the songs that exist right now.

Would have been nice if the prices were closer to DDR DLCon the XBox 360, which were something like $1.25 for each song (100 pts per song) or $10 for 10 songs (800 pts for 10 songs)..

Don't care about the prices...I just want better songs....

Bark at the Moon as made famous by Ozzy Osbourne, is the only one I even second looked at..And its not that great, just would like to play it. (dont have GH1)

But then you're missing out on the beauty of Guitar Hero. Personally I don't care for most of the songs in these games... but that doesn't mean they're not insanely fun to play.

From that DLC, Hey You and Killer Queen are great songs. Would I ever listen to them in my car? Probably not.

wow...another bitch thread

That's not really bad pricing nor do you have to buy them *gasp!*

That price seems about right. it costs 1 buck on itunes for a song but this you have to pay royalties too for using the songs and it's for a game.

*twirling finger*

Can't wait to get home and get these.

I guess I am having a dumb moment, but what am I missing out on? I dont understand your post. (Not being sarcastic, can you just reword it with what you mean?)

Anyways, I am not complaining about the pricing or anything else. Just complaining that I want more songs and better ones at that! :p I don't think the developers would get mad at me for complaining about wanting more of their game...

The iTunes analogy really doesn't work here, and you're kind of missing the point.

The real problem here is that if I just wanted to play Bark at the Moon, I'd have to pay 6 bucks to play one song, and be stuck with 2 songs I don't want. iTunes let's you pay for exactly what you want, it doesn't force you to pay more for a bundle that you don't need. That's the Gamestop way.

The biggest problem for me is that if I wanted to rebuy the entirety of GH1, a game I already own but would like to play with GH2's imrpoved HO/PO system, I'd have to spend around $100. GH1 itself costed me $80 with a guitar when I bought it.

What I mean is that a lot of the songs, despite being ones I don't like to listen to per se, are actually very fun to play. Be it the arrangement of notes, the rythym of playing, whatever.... they're just fun.

Like I mentioned before, Killer Queen. Not a song I've ever been a fan of, and if you had asked me before if I wanted to play it on Guitar Hero I'd say "hell no". But once you get into it, it starts to rock. The same is true of a lot of those bonus tracks they included from indie groups. There's some fun stuff to play in there.

Eh I guess its just me, but I really don't get into a song if the songs dont sound good. I mean they may be fun to play, but if it doesn't sound good to me, then the overall fun isn't great...

Btw, thanks for clarifying.

So you'll only play songs you liked before playing GH?

That's kind of a close-minded way to go about things but to each his own.

Lol no...I play all the songs...I just want songs that were some of the best. I love this game, you guys are getting me all wrong. I've played it now for 4 days non-stop when I get off work till I go to bed. I have "fun" playing the songs, even if I think they sound like crap. There are a couple that I like, but I have liked them before I played them on GH...I just don't hear any New songs I like yet. I just think they are GREAT when they are old songs that I would love to play. Like Stairway to Heaven, Freebird, and etc...Those I LOVE playing...Just wish they would get alot more like them. :p

Again, I LOVE this game, so don't get me wrong!

All you people bitching about those of us bitching about the price are missing the point. If you haven't ever played GH 1, and these are new to you, then I can definitely understand your excitement and not caring about the price.

But, if you wouldn't feel so excited to pay $94 for Guitar Hero 1 were it to be sold stand alone, then you shouldn't be so happy to pay what they are asking for these song packs. I would buy the whole tracklist for 3200 MS points, but I won't drop 1500 points for 9 songs, 3 of which I could care less about.

Yes, we don't have to buy the songs at the prices they set. And I won't, and I have 3500 MS points sitting there waiting for DLC from GH2.

But to act like we don't have a right to be insulted by the pricing model because you think its ok, when all it takes is some 5 second math to realize the horseshit going on underneath, well thats just blind consumerism.

/voting with wallet.

I'd rathere just pay 60.00 to buy a full disc with all the games from GH1 than be forced to buy a pack of songs...some of which I DONT want to play!

Sure, 2.00 is a bit per song. Yeah I know that it costs to develop it, and royalties and such...but when you release it (the game) for ~90.00 and figure out what the guitar itself costs and what it would then cost per song based on the 70ish songs and how much you are then spending...you would think that they would follow the same price model.

Yes, you dont have to buy them if you don't want them. I dont even have a 360 yet, but AM getting one in a month or so. GH2 was one of the purchases I have planned. After owning 1 and 2 for PS2, I was all about Hi-Def and DLC. I am honestly disappointed in no online co-op. This is a game that would be perfect for it.

Anyways, Im sure red-octane would sell a hell of a lot more of the games if they did NOT release them as DLC and just put out a DVD of the GH1 songs. Im sure a lot of us would pay the ~60 or so for a disc with all the GH1 songs.

Now, if they released NEW songs, quite regularly, and made them so its NOT a bundle deal. I'm sure a lot of us WOULD pay 2.00/track to rock out to a new song(s) that we've never seen/played before!

/end .02>

Yeah $2 a song is steep, but I am tempted to buy.

Even though I have played the songs on Guitar Hero I

As long as enough of the songs I want come in the same packs, I'll be OK with it. For example, I'll be giving pack3 a miss totally.

I'm sorry Netrat but you got completely owned by this guy.

1) Itunes does not force you to buy bundles - you can buy one song at a time

2) If you wanted to buy every single song from GH1 it would cost over $100 - the game itself, without a guitar would probably be $50.

3) Why no "Cowboys From Hell"?

Thank you for shopping and please do come again.

Really? lets see

1) Itunes does force you to buy some songs as an album and you can't get a single. Hence those singles ...Album only. It's basically a bundle.

2) You also don't have to buy every single song now do you? These are the extras folks!

3) I don't know

Itunes is really not a proper analogy anyway you spin it.

For one, the pricing model is totally different, and you get the song from the actual band, even if you have to buy an entire album to do so.

This isn't even new content, it's remixed previously available content, and a better comparison would be if iTunes made you buy the whole cd, but 3 songs were the actual band and 6 were by "Bob's Cover band" for the same price.

I could care less about the songs being by a cover band in the game, that makes no difference, but the pricing model just doesn't hold up comparatively. I'd rather buy the whole thing, the whole thing in chunks, or be given freedom of choice at a reasonable price.

2) You also don't have to buy every single song now do you? These are the extras folks!

I am so sick of this asinine excuse. I remember hearing it every 5th reply in that $180 360 HD thread.

No shit we don't have to buy something that's overpriced, but if we want to it's perfectly acceptable to bitch about it being overpriced.

I don't have to buy shit, but if I wanted to own what basically amounts to a remake of GH1 on my 360 I shouldn't have to pay $100 for it.

I'm sure there will be plenty of more packs coming.

at effing $2 a song, you can bet your ass there will be more packs.

Anyone paying $6.25 for 3 songs a pop is a moron. These things should be priced in a sub $1 range per song, if not for free.

Too expensive. But the good news seems to be that the uproar from the community may be enough to get future packs released at a more reasonable price.

Like I stated earlier:

wow...another bitch thread

And it's not an asinine exuse if they are EXTRAS. It's not a necessity. It's a game pack. It's the equivalent of extra stages. And that is how they wanted to distrubt them.
and $180 for a HD DVD player wasn't bad either but it was an extra anyway you look at it. That arguement held up there.

Kahnvex: Yes I know itunes is a different pricing scheme but it isn't that far off is what my point is. And no some songs that are on soundtracks (like Donnie Darko) are not just the artist. I wanted Mad World and couldn't get it until Gears had it.

And yes this is new content because the 360 never had guitar hero and never had it with 5.1 surround and bass/lead tracks. These are game stages. And we all know this isn't itunes.

uhh...its terrible pricing, if you add up the cost of the GH2 songs, it's 2 to 3 times as much as the original game cost....and that's the retail sku that came with the guitar.

Then they throw them out there a-la carte, but in small 3 song bundles instead of letting people pick and choose.

It's death by 1,000 cuts. The nickel and diming of XBL is a joke.
